Utah!

Waibel,
I just wondered. Where we are (county island, 8600 S 1300 E area) we can have 50 chickens. But anyone in Sandy 'proper' can only have 6.

Rub it in? Not me!

Wondering if I get more chickens what I'll do with all those eggs. Decisions decisions.

(I'm so mean...)

So has anyone put chicks outside yet without a heat lamp? Got some fully feathered ones I think are ready...but don't want to freeze them.

I put my 6-8 week olds out a week ago. I have no lamp but I put them all in the coop at night and shut the door. They have not figured it out yet.

On the warmer days recently, I put my two 6 week Australorp and 8 week Barred Rock out during the day. I put a a big rubbermaid tote in their enclosure - it's on its side, with lots of shavings in it. When it gets breezy, they go in there and are fine. I do bring them in at night, though. Didn't put them out at all yesterday, and just for a few minutes on Saturday - too cold and rainy. They were not happy about it.

My 9 week old RIR and bantams have been out for about 10 days to two weeks they have thier light for the cold nights like 40 and below but other than that they are fine.

My 2 barred rocks and 2 red sex links......all 12 weeks old........have been outside for 3 weeks now, with no heat lamp. They are just fine and really love being outside. They are protected in the run from the elements.

pacsman, 50 chickens huh? where i am at we can have 36 chickens per animal unit and we have 10 animal units. so let me see thats 360 chickens. does anyone need some eggs?

Are you in the SL Valley? Sure, we could use some eggs. (fertile?

) We've been doing this chicken raising, coop building, post reading, and chicken learning, all with no eggs! (talk about delayed gratification...)

My first eggs in July have got to be good!
