Anyone in the area want a BO roo? he's 5-6 weeks old and not aggressive. I don't think he knows he's a roo yet. I wish we could keep him but not allowed. I hate to just have him get eaten. I think he would be a good chicken. He's a little shy and squawks and tries to run when I grab him but calms down when I pet him and usually the first to run up to my hand to see what treats I have. He's never bullied the other girls in the pen with him. They all cuddle together.

I can send a picture. He's used to being handled by the kids and I.

OMG I just counted, I HAVE 52 EGGS IN MY HOVA-BATOR!!! I ordered 16+ eggs on ebay and I got 20. Then a BYCer sent me 22, then I already had 10 bantam EEs!!! Some are bantam and some are large fowl thats why so many fit

Where did you get bantam EEs from? I know someone near Preston, ID that's been wanting some FOREVER...

I have a 3mo barred rock that presented like this:
photo18.jpg

it did not have any respiratory symptoms that i could tell. it did appear to be in considerable pain and did not leave the coop, which is odd. the bird appeared and acted normal just last night. my initial though was trauma, so i culled the bird based on that assumption and that it appeared to be in pain. does anyone have an idea what else it could have been? botulism?

this bird could raise it's neck but it stuggled to do so.

Injury? It was hard to tell from the pic but it looks like there is chicken wire wrapped around something, maybe she got her head caught?

Hope this has a happy ending, it's sad to lose a bird.

Did you see her first thing this morning? My guess would be that she fell off the roost last night and either sprained or broke her neck. I think you are worrying too much about respiratory diseases or botulism. My vote is freak accident.

i saw her late last night and my wife called me at work around 11am to tell me about it. my first assumption was that she got spooked while under the roosts and may have flown into a 2x4.

she came out of the coop on the morning with a hung head. when i got home she wouldn't even move and appeared to be suffering. her head was going from in the pine chips to about two inches off the deck, slow and shaky.
