legbars? Are they good layers??

i do not think they are egg laying machines but they lay the most amazing blue eggs i have ever seen and they are auto-sex so its like sex-link but so much better. they are not like ee where you do not know what color of egg you will get because they are pure and you know you will get blue eggs. here is a link for you all to check out http://greenfirefarms.com/store/category/chickens/cream-legbar/ i am sad because i cant have roosters where i live because i would love to breed them. i would hope that any of you who are allowed roosters would think about maybe breeding these because i think you could make some good money on them and i know i would buy several

We are finally getting real cold at night here. My girls water was frozen for the first time, have to get the electric water bowl out. Keeps it from freezing real well.

Now that's the color of egg I've been trying for! I wonder if they like the wyondottes, and EE's, every other day isn't bad..or even 3 to 4 eggs a week.

I emailed the farm but haven't heard back, I guess she is a member here but doesn't post a ton. I'm not ready for birds right now, we still have to get it passed through our HOA which shouldn't be a problem now that we have a new HOA board and the president wants chickens himself. I would just really rather go through a breeder, not a hatchery. I wish they would respond to my email.

I've even thought about doing fertile eggs instead of chicks...I'm just afraid of getting all cockerels!

Ok, I'm going to get some legbars...I read the whole info you posted. They seem to be great egg layers too. The hens are really pretty. I wonder if that Utah place has any eggs or chicks right now. Going to check..thanks for posting that..I think it would be great to get these recognized here in Utah..folks here would love them. Easy to sex, beautiful eggs, and they lay well, they do well in our weather. Great all around bird.

I just called the farm and she said most of her heritage breeds will be between $3 and $10, but didn't have a price for the legbars yet, hers haven't started laying. I know my kids each want their chicken to lay a different colored egg so it would be fun to have a legbar, an ameraucana, a maran and an olive egger.

i first read about the legbars a few months ago and i have wanted some since. i think they would be very popular here in utah. i love the way they look too. so whoever gets them let me know where you get them from. i have only dealt with one chick in my life so i hope i would be good at raising them but for a legbar it would be so worth it. but if someone sells some that are a little older i would jump on that too. i am in love with the breed and i do not have any yet

Hello all!

I'm currently in Utah, and haven't had much time to read through all the posts here, so I apologize in advance if this has already been asked.

Does anyone have the name / number / website of someone in northern Utah that does chicken processing? I need to process my chickens before my fiancee gets back in town on Monday, and do not wish to do it myself. She understands that they're past laying age and it's time to eat them, but she's such an animal lover that she doesn't want to be around when they "disappear".

Anyhow, any help is appreciated.

Thank you!
