I wanted to jump in and say so sorry on the toe. Such dinky little things can make our whole body miserable, huh?
roll.png
I could never model my feet (or anything), some of the toes aren't lined up (or lay flat) anymore lol.

A barred laying colored eggs? soooo jealous. I have about NINE EE's and not one lays anything but brown!
he.gif
I could wring their necks if I didn't love 'um. (but might sell 'um!! ...maybe that'll scare them).

Ya'll remember the little black silky roo I saved for the young man? Well he ended up in the small coop with Mr. Golden and the older girls cause the young girls were mean to him. As you know, my pretty roo died 2 days before Christmas. This morning the hens woke me making a big ruckus and figured they'd seen the fox or whatever (their coop is Fort Knox). Looked out and that tiny little black silky roo was between the girls and whatever was out there. so cute.

The chickies pics are SO sweet! I already have chick-fever but hv no clue where I'd put them. NO MORE posting cute chick pics!!

Hope everyone has a safe New Year!

Oh the barred EE! Nice! So fun how many combinations you can get

Does she have the puffy cheeks? I am still thinking my two blacks are pullets....not any rooster signs yet....crossing fingers! They are now both about the same size, they really look equal in their feathering, so I am figuring they likely are the same sex....so it is all or nothing boys or girls lol! They really are getting big. They do not look like penguins anymore....They have only a tiny bit of white left under their chin. (If chickens really have chins ?
roll.png
)

Oh and guess what!
wee.gif
My chabo laid an egg on Christmas morning, one yesterday, and it looks like she is getting ready to again this morning!
ya.gif
We are making bets at my house about how long til she goes broody again....my guess is three weeks. We will see

No puffy cheeks that I can tell on my barred..I wish. My black girl is getting big too. She is already bigger than the baby cochins I put her in with. I can tell she is going to be pretty. Yes, if both of your babies look alike, they are probably the same sex. I am just going to jinx you....they are pullets..they are pullets..and you know it too..they are pullets. There! lol..

I have all of my NH sold. Not sure I told this yet or not..but oh well, old people get to repeat things..
big_smile.png
A lady in Kentucky called and wants them. No, she doesn't want them there, but she is from here, moved to there, and has family here...grand kids..older ones, that want chickens. So, it sounds like she is buying them a nice coop and all. They live in Herrium..or however you spell that city..and I will put another twist on it, it's a brother from Eagle Mountain that will be coming to pick them up to take them to Herrium...or however you spell it. Did ya'll get that? I have all of my NH's sold. lol..I will keep one. They really are cute.
I have some more EE eggs coming..and Lisa..hold onto your hat. This gal is on here at BYC. She knew she would be getting some eggs out to me today. I had ordered before Christmas, not all of her EE's laid enough, soooo, I am getting some pure Ameraucana Lavenders, and splash! Ok, so that means, I could get some more black babies, carrying the lavender gene. You know, that I will get some blacks. lol...I always do,...but pure Ameraucanas! That means blue eggs for sure, because she said that the pures are from the smaller blue eggs.
wee.gif

I am still wondering about my SLW, but not as much as a pretty EE I've been watching. I am afraid to send pictures of that one to the "what breed or gender is this." Looks to be getting the saddle feathers...but you never know. Sure is getting some pretty reds in the buff and black feathers too..hmmm...the black being on the tip of the tail. Oh well, it may be, ksl here I come.
sad.png

I will guess that your little broody will go broody in two and a half weeks... lol..oops, sorry, that isn't a funny is it? If she is laying, I would hurry and get those eggs out from under her..may help, but not sure. Those little ones like her are great broody hens, if that's what you want or need.
Hope all had a great Christmas. Now it's time to say have a Happy New Year! Be careful on that night if you are driving. Whether you are drinking or not..lol..because you know there will be a lot that are. Hope you find a fun place to have fun. I will be doing our usual...pizza, goodies, with DH and DS, and then at midnight, will get out the pan and spoon, and bang them for a min. while my DH turns on the car beeper...for reals! We might be getting older, but old habits die hard, and it's still fun to be silly once in a while, and that's seems to be a good time to be acting like a kid again.
gig.gif
I've done the pan thing forever, since a kid with my mom.

Cynthia - are they banty or full size? how many extra's will you have? I may be very interested as I am so not winning the colored egg lottery this year. I have one EE banty that I think it was you that said she was as close to purebred Amerauana and she lays the bluest eggs.
big_smile.png

So if you will have full-size chickies coming I may be very interested and can prepay if necessary. Suppose I better ask where you are first? I can sell my EE's to my neighbor as she doesn't mind that they won't lay color. How is it possible that 9 (maybe more EE's) ALL lay brown? Is there something I can add to their diet (ok, I owned canaries and I know it's not the same but worth asking
cool.png
)

One last question - is there a demand for pure roo's, which I'm sure will be in the mix. I would want one to breed my little blue to but that's all.

Thanks!

Oh - and the EE's I have, about 1/2 came fm McMurray the other 1/2 from Ideal. So is that weird or what??!

Cynthia those lavenders will be so pretty! I love the pics on the ladies' site that you got the EE eggs from....she had a couple of those I think and they were gorgeous. I cannot wait to expand our run and coop and get a few fun more colors and breeds
smile.png

My chabo is not even allowed to so much as look at her egg when she is done haha! We have a webcam out there and I run out the second I can see she is done on our computer screen. I will post a fun picture series here.....my buff laying an egg. She gets puffier and puffier....she gets her feet further and further out....then the last pic you can see the egg under her. It is so funny to watch them! It is also so funny how she turns away from ther camera, I could swear they know I am watching haha!

Love the photos of the chicken laying an egg. Too funny!

I adored my EE. I'm definitely going to get a bunch more. I felt very lucky- I got four from IFA, and each laid a different colored egg (no brown!). Here's a picture that I took of every color egg I got. In addition to the four EE, I also had a SLW, a white leghorn and a BCM in the mix.

Here's another shot of just EE.

Those olive eggs are so long! I often wonder about that....my girls seem to all lay really round eggs, and my neighbors eggs are all longer and pointier. Hers are free range, mine stay in the run most of the time. I wonder if that makes a difference? That is the only thing that i can think of. We feed them the same stuff, except hers get more foraging of course. We have some of the same breeds even, and sure enough hers are longer and pointier, mine are fatter but shorter and nearly round. About the same size overall, but a totally different shape

Love the pictures! I hope my ee babies give me blue

Oooh, you would want a black Ameraucana to breed to your blue. Could get lavender, splash, blue, or black. Fun!

I haven't got the eggs yet..they were shipped today. So I am not one to count my chicks before they hatch. She said she is sending 14 eggs. I'm sure she will have them marked.
I live in Spanish Fork..where are you? Lisa knows where I am.
