That's how I got my first chicken too! I was about 16 and had one horse that we pastured behind our house. One day a small white rooster showed up. We named him Squirt and he had the typical weird crow, got the Cocka-Doodle but no Dooooo. He would perch on my horses back, sleep between her legs when she laid down, he was there for almost a half a year till one day silence and a few white feathers left behind. Our whole family was bummed.
Now I'm grown and a chick-chicken-addict. Sorry to hear of the recent loss.
I totally love ducks too and we have ponds they would love but we have no way to protect them from predators so my heart will not cave to becoming a duck-addict.
You'll love this board and I actually use the Utah forum unless I really need info we don't hv here (us Utahns are pretty dang smart!).
