That's how I got my first chicken too! I was about 16 and had one horse that we pastured behind our house. One day a small white rooster showed up. We named him Squirt and he had the typical weird crow, got the Cocka-Doodle but no Dooooo. He would perch on my horses back, sleep between her legs when she laid down, he was there for almost a half a year till one day silence and a few white feathers left behind. Our whole family was bummed.

Now I'm grown and a chick-chicken-addict. Sorry to hear of the recent loss.

I totally love ducks too and we have ponds they would love but we have no way to protect them from predators so my heart will not cave to becoming a duck-addict.

You'll love this board and I actually use the Utah forum unless I really need info we don't hv here (us Utahns are pretty dang smart!).

are you sure the ee is a roo? looks like a girl to me.. ee are very easy to sex and i may be wrong but she has female colors imo but then again i could be wrong. how is is she?

Oh, I'm glad you and Lisa said something..maybe I'll take them off of ksl. I just don't know at this point any more. The comb on the ee is quite light still, as you can see, the comb and wattles are quite red on the SLW, but Lisa said hers was turning red sooner than later?
Oh, and Lisa..did you really hear that the blacks are usually boys>>>>>noooooo! I want a black Ameraucana!
Go look at sonew123's ad that is going on now..that's who I bought from and those are the eggs I got, well, not this one, it isn't over, and I have some of her Ameraucanas in my bator, I had to message her and ask if those were the moms and dads..yep! ..her pictures aren't that blue looking, but the eggs here are! Check her beautiful chickens out!

yep. read the thread i posted a link to it will explain more and they cover the whole black thing in it. but if you are sure they are pure ameraucana and not just ee then that rule may not apply because its more a rule for ee i believe and as you know ee are more of a mutt breed, its hard too because places sell ee as ameraucana

My older brother buys boilers for meat birds, I only help process them at the end of the season. I don't have any birds yet but when I do get my flock I will be looking to get wyandottes for the majority.

Cynthia, if you don't need show quality and can be patient, I got my SLW from the feed store a couple springs ago.

Also, I plan to hatch some show quality SLW stock in Feb or so- I was going to buy hatching eggs from http://www.utahwarmblood.com/ I am also going to try to hatch some of her Corontation Sussex birds. Maybe even some Lavender Americaunas. And definitely some BCM- she has beautiful BCMs.

Jeremy, I may see if I can work something out with you guys if I buy broilers, and have you guys process them. I'm too squeamish.

She is under the index..hatching eggs for sell right now. She has some for sell, and they are going for a pretty penny! These are larger fowl. I just checked for the bullseye, quite a few of the 9 are looking good.
