Utah!

K, ya'll are going to think I am crazy. But, I ordered some chicks! Not eggs, chicks! All pullets!

I will get my SLW! I also ordered more NH's, White Orpingtons..one of my first love for a chicken was a white Orpington..Red Sex link, I want eggs..and, a few brown leghorns..I want eggs again, and, some Auraucana, and some speckled sussex. I personally think that the brown leghorns are quite pretty. I love that the one that I have right now has a really really floppy comb. Too cute. These babies will be coming by the first of Feb. I will keep them for a while, not sure how long. I do have a place for them once they get too big for indoors, then I will see which ones I want to keep, then hopefully sell them for 10 each, as they are pullets..at least I can hope they sexed them all right. Plus you get a mystery chick? I hope it isn't a Polish. If it's a rare breed like they say, I'll take a Golden Laced W..or, one of the silver leghorns..pretty! Crossing my fingers I don't lose any in shipment. You never know.
Hoping I will get my Silver Penciled Partridge Eggs tomorrow.

I went ahead and took some eggs from my friends place yesterday..barn yard mix. Will be mostly red sex links. Beautiful buff roo and gorgeous RIR roo, and all those hens that are red stars, and one RIR hen and a white rock. I only kept 4. Gave 4 to a friend down the street that has a broody dark brahma..she's sitting pretty tight..so hope she stays until they hatch. My friend is pretty excited to see her as a mom.

I think I now have, or will have my hands full for a while..with lots of babies!
I am getting 5 or 6 eggs a day from my 6 laying girls. So, get to sell some eggs and save up for some chicken needs at times.

Cynthia,

My hopes for my end flock is only 1 GLW. If you want, I'll sell you one for $10, assuming I get more than one or two out of this hatch. When they went into lockdown, all 7 looked good though.

I have to admit I opened the incubator early today, after checking to make sure nobody had pipped. I was going to do a quick candle. But I immediately heard peeping from egg #3, so I put it back in, gave it a squirt of water, and now I'm avoiding the incubator.

On the up side, I bought an adorable top while I was avoiding the house.

Cynthia - I went and got two more hens last night to add to my little flock, bringing it up to a total of six. And my mom gave me "the look" when I told her I was going to pick them up. I guess she thought four was plenty, which was not what I had in mind. So.........to each his/her own

I hope you have fun with your chickies! I'm really hoping one of my girls will go broody in the spring or something. For now, I just want eggs.

Fun! I wish I could have that many lol! Let me know if you have any NH left over, I may head your way again. NH, White Rock and BA are the three I want to get for sure this spring, possible another 1 or 2...(or 3 or 4 haha). AND if your mystery IS a polish, let me know, that is the one my son wants to get to replace his mean EE I had to get rid of. That was the promise I made, if he lets me get rid of her he can have a polish. So long as Dad builds enough space with a little area for the fluffy heads:)
