I'm really glad I opened it up now. I am sad it didn't make it, but I'm also happy to know there's nothing I could've done to save it.
I'm also glad you and my husband both encouraged me to help HULKSMASH out of the egg. I'm not sure it ever would've zipped enough to get out, and as soon as I chipped a couple of tiny chunks of shell off, it was out immediately, with a bang. I only regret nobody else got to see her entrance.
Now I can go about obsessing about the gender of these.
Soon, I will be incubating eggs in my kids' classrooms. I'm waiting for the breeder up here to get her breeding stock going, and then I'll buy hatching eggs from her. Upside to doing it this way is the eggs will be in my kids' classrooms, so I physically can NOT obsess in person. Bad news is, I won't be able to candle/help out as easily. I was thinking of hatching some BCM, and I'm a little worried, I've heard they need assistance more.
RedIII-Congrats on your SLW egg! No luck on mine, not the cochin or the BR. Trying to be patient
Sphinx--Hulksmash is def my fave of the bunch. GORGEOUS face, and the back also so darn cute! Cannot wait to see how 'she' (crossing fingers!) develops and changes. Keep us posted
I am in love with her
Thanks so much again for sharing that with all of us, I am so glad I got to watch! I have not slept much for 2 days lol I cannot believe how long I stared at those eggs.
Cynthia--cannot wait to hear about your upcoming hatches! Wanted you to know the black girls both slept on the roost last night, with no help from me, the cold seems to be ok for them now, and the big girls are accepting them quite nicely. The only one that picks on them at all is......get this.....my little beat up bantam partridge cochin. When I catch her doing it I get so mad! I saved her life and how dare she act like that
Maybe she learned to be tougher after getting beat up. Who knows

Oh, take pictures in another few weeks. Bet they are looking pretty.
And, my little bantam, the mottled one I have a picture of on here somewhere, is the boss of my Ameraucana, and a couple of others. She doesn't hurt them, she just rushes at them, and they leave quickly.
I also stared at Shinx's cam..my DH was chuckling away..he says, now you can just sit at the computer and watch eggs hatch! I told him I had to, I don't have any to go check on every 10 mins. or so. But I will in about a week now.
