Utah!

Can I just say how glad I am that my chicks are hatched? I would have a tough time if they were pipping and I didn't have the expert here.

Although, having BYC down at the beginning of lockdown would've made it easier to leave the eggs alone.

I guess people can watch my chick cam. I wish the picture quality on it was better. :-/

ooh, I know. I could CLEAN MY HOUSE! Or run on the treadmill!

Shinx, where do you live again? Was it you that wanted some Ameraucanas?? The pure? Since you have these little ones, and I have some coming..crossing fingers..by next week, they should get along if you take a couple. I have two EE eggs that are looking good..and 5 pure lavender/splits that are looking good. But, they are the ones that have the large air sac..so we will see. Just a thought if you want some. I know someone here said they wanted some. I would only be asking 4 dollars a chick at this young age. Might be worth the gas money, we could meet like Lisa and I did.
Lisa wants a NH when my babies come I do believe.
I think the person that was interested in my lavender splits was up in Price.

Quite possibly I am interested, Cynthia. What color will they be? What color are the eggs? I would love to get some blue egg layers.

You live in SF, right?

I live in Davis county.

The pure are blue, the EE's are a pretty green, I only have two in there of the EE. I have a possibility to get the lavender chicks, but also the possibility of getting the blacks that carry the gene, and like Lisa said, I have a knack at getting black chicks! lol.

Ok, just got my eggs. As soon as I opened the box, I could smell them! So many had weeped, and broken..I don't dare put the few that don't look to be weeping in there. The smell is a good indication that I shouldn't. Sure am glad he is sending me more! Going to write him and post some pictures of them for him..just awful..so sad.

My eggs that finally got here..5 days out.

As soon as I opened the box..like I said, I could smell them. Even the ones that look good in the picture, are damp. I don't dare put any in my bator.

Oh dear.

Those look terrible- the writing on that even seems smudged and blurry, which can't be a good sign. I'm so sorry. I'm glad he's sending you more. I don't know that I'd dare attempt to incubate either. Do you know where they got lost along the way? And what kind of eggs were they supposed to be?

I'd love to see pics of your americaunas and their eggs. I'd looooove some blue egg layers. Think my husband would noticed if my chick count bumped up a couple?

When I went to take pictures of 6, I accidentally grabbed 5 again. But, I think that's ok because it's shot wasn't as clear on the legs. And what legs they are, don't they look rooish?

So, chick 5 again:

And chick 6: (who also seems to be sporting some very thick legs, doesn't he?)

And get this, I was playing with the idea of feather sexing, and the bright yellow chick seems to have pretty dark pins on her wings, doesn't she?

See if this works...they are large fowl..not bantam... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=612852

Thank you! And I can see my little banty hen looks almost identical to hers.

And SURPRISE - last night I got a BLUE full-size egg out of one of my EE's that I've been threatening to sell! So just to make sure this works...Girls? Are you listening? I can sell you to Inge who has lost many chickens to RACOONS....are you sure you want to still lay brown eggs???

And WOW, that wind was so strong last night, all night, I'm surprised our pony isn't in Heber by now!

OH MY GOSH! How did I get so FAR behind on these forum posts? I'm on notification - I just thought it was quiet cause of the holidays. Duhhhhhh.

I found out what EE of mine is laying the blue egg -- she's our only pure white EE.

Cynthia -- I saw that your pure Amercauna (sp?) eggs arrived broken - I'm so sorry. I tried reading through the threads but can't see if you got more? Remember, I am SO wanting some since I have that little blue banty that you identified as being as close to true as I can get (and she lays little blue robin eggs). I know there was someone ahead of me in line but I will take as many as you can sell to me!

Please send me an email to my regular address since there seems to be something hokey with getting notices on this board.

Thanks!
julie

p.s Hope everyone had a wonderful New Years. I'm hoping 2012 will be much better than 2011!

Cynthia, that is awful

I am so sorry. Not to make light of something so sad, but you know what this means, don't you? I should go and get some chicks of my own to compensate! (I'm sure that would work, somehow) But really, I am sorry that the eggs are a lost cause.

Sphinx - All I can say is, I'm glad I bookmarked your webcam page! With BYC going down tomorrow, I'll still get plenty of entertainment watching your babies.

Lisa - I'm sorry, I know you told me before, but how old did you say your BR is? Mine is about 8 months, and she only started laying a week ago. Try bribing her with a few grape tomatoes. Mine really seemed to like that

And bird man, I am happy to put up pictures like that for you to look at

I can be nutty sometimes about taking pictures of my animals, so it's nice to be able to share a couple of them, haha.

Those aren't my Ameraucana eggs..they were my Silver Penciled Partridge Rock.

But, what a nice guy, he said he would get more eggs out to me.
I actually have more pure Ameraucana eggs coming! Did I say that out loud?

Lavenders again.

Don't want to get all blacks. Hope I get some lavenders between the two orders. I need to slow down now. Someone come and take my computer away from me! I will have plenty of babies to sell though, and I just love the little baby things! I just love them.

Yes, after I sent him some pics, he said, don't put those in the bator, just throw them away. He thought they should have arrived by Fri. at the latest. Who knows, but it's been cold out there.
Ok, so, I am thinking you may have an EE in your yellow little chick. May lay a brownish pinkish egg..some just lay brown though, and then again, since I'm no expert, it could be a girl and lay a green egg. I'm just thinking how it came from a brown egg.
And yes, I'm thinking that last little one looks rooish already, not quite sure about the other one yet. So pretty.
