Utah!

Thanks Lisa, now you are helping me out with the tech stuff. Will give a try!

Are you all freezing up there or what? It's cold enough here!! Hoping these eggs make it here tomorrow! Don't want them out too long. Seems what ever route they take from where they are coming from, just may be a tough one, and slow.

Shinx, seems you named your little/big baby the right name..lol..Hulksmash. Hulk for short?

FROZEN this morning. 3 degrees. I went out to the coop to get eggs, and let them out at 7 am and it was so cold the little night time waterer in the coop was frozen solid, that is with a heat lamp and the doors shut overnight! Usually that one stays fine at night. Brrrr....my girls are doing good tho, even the little ones seemed fine this morning, so they have gotten big enough the cold is ok for them. I have been putting the little meanie out in the yard everyday and she stands by the run begging all day to get back in, and today she is being much more pleasant to the newbies, so I have let her stay in so far (it is just so cold out!). I think the whole 'timeout' seems to work for the feather picking meanies.

Cynthia, I hope your eggs arrive ok. I do not know how in the world those eggs make it in the mail like they do and stay vital. It is amazing! I never would have thought eggs were so resilient. I wish I could get more chicks right now! We need warm weather so we can make room for more, I just want to buy up all your cute breeds you are getting ready to hatch lol!

I know, it was soooo cold this morning, and I bet it was even colder for you, up north.

I'm kind of fretting about this spraddle leg. I don't see any improvement, and I'm thinking maybe I didn't do the bandaids/rubber bands tight enough.

I redid it just now, but she now has that leg kind of hanging to the side. I'm worried that maybe I'm making it worse? Have any of you dealt with this?

Lisa, it was only 3 degrees out there? I remember that when our daughter lived out there. Gets mighty cold at times. Glad your babies are doing well..makes me happy for you. Are you seeing what they may be yet? I am pretty sure you should be able to tell by now. If you can get pictures of them..when it warms up someday there..then put them on, we'll take a look. You can post them on the other thread too. I'll bet they are getting pretty.
I went out today and treated all of my girls with DE. Had a friend over yesterday looking just for fun, and after picking up my mottled, decided to go ahead and take a look..yep, mites. With all of the darn sparrows out there, it doesn't surprise me. Although, chickens usually have them anyway, I don't "usually" see them when looking. Sometimes I see the egg sacs, then I know, so I treat, but if I am not seeing even egg sacs I leave them alone. I went ahead and put DE all around the coop and more in the nest boxes. I've had it in there, guess that wasn't enough..those sparrows go in the coop..! To eat, drink, poop!

So many of them this year.
While we were at it, I think the screams of me catching my brown leghorn caught the attention of a hawk. Scott saw it first, and it was low! My girls that were done with their treatment were in the yard, so we stayed out until it left, then I put the girls back in the run..not taking any chances after seeing how low that bird was checking out my girls. And, we are going to take our dog out on the leash for now, they would grab up a small dog like that in a heart beat if they are hungry enough. He probably weighs less than my biggest chicken! My little yorkie.
That's the excitement of the day..I hope..
Hope everyone is staying warm in this cold weather, it's supposed to start warming up into the 20's at night here. That's better than the low teens. I'll bet Logan gets waaay down there. Brrr..
Set my other lavenders' this morning. Now the wait. Those eggs got here fast! Still waiting for the other ones that the guy is replacing. He said he sent them Tues. Crossing fingers they come for sure by tomorrow!

I have lots! I really like the electrical tape, and yes, they are little magicians..if I spelled that right.lol..at getting those things off. You just have to keep putting them on. It looks to me like you may have to be a meanie and put the legs closer together. The baby won't be able to walk as well, but will be able to wobble. See, meanie. But yes, that is one splayed little leg. It will straighten out once you get it right. If you like the rubber band best, just make the leg pull in closer. The toes look good though. Sometimes, they have crooked toes to boot. :p Good luck! They are wriggly worms for sure when trying to get that on right.

Yeah, after I saw that picture, I realized that i need to 1- tighten up between the legs, and tighten around the leg so it can't slide up.

I think it's better now, but I've been messing with it so much in the past half hour that I'm going to let her sleep for a bit, and then maybe I'll take her out and take her picture for your feedback.

Good luck on your eggs you set today. Did they all look great?
