I'm sorry if this has already been brought up, but Lisa, have you considered trying to carefully reach into your banty's vent with a lubed finger and help work the egg out? I worry about anything breaking in there, but at this point, what else can be done?

I think I'd wear rubber gloves. I'd SAY it was for sterility reasons (and there'd be some truth to that), but it would really be because ewwww, gross! Sticking my fingers up a chicken's butt? Yuck!

I candled my eggs today, and saw veining and baby chicks in 6/7. The 7th didn't have veining, but it was like day 4.5, so I'm not too worried yet.

The more I watch Hulksmash, the more convinced I am that culling her is the kindest thing I can do. I'm really having a tough time though- I don't even kill spiders unless they're poisonous, so killing a cute chick is an unbearable thought.

Shix, Rebecca called me tonight. She has my BLRW eggs! We will be about a week apart from the sounds of it. Will go get them tomorrow. And, I have a Silver Laced coming tomorrow that my daughter is picking up for me. I want one of those, and a gal that bought my NH said she got one, and that the lady had another one..they were easter chicks, so, should be laying, or soon. Yaay, I got my Silver laced!

Lisa.. I am not sure how the Ameraucana came to be. I just know the difference between the EE and them. Yes, Ameraucanas have the slate leg, pea comb, even the girl I do believe..and lay a more blue egg. I've gotten eggs that are supposed to be blue, from Ameraucanas..just got some, the lavenders...are pure. They honestly, don't look any more blue than the ones that your blacks came from. My barred rock girl..no puffy cheeks, will have to get a pic.

so i guess there was a $100k in damage done to car windows in roy, hooper, clinton, ogden and riverdale, it will be on 2 news tonight. did anyone here get hit?

Well when I have room I will need to get me some more blue egg layers lol. Will see what these look like, the gal sounds pretty sure on her site that they will turn out to be olive. My son is thrilled, he wanted more of those, the only one we had was the mean EE I had to get rid of It would be cool if they still turned out blue--time will tell! Thanks for all the info!
Red, Sphinx, still have not ventured out to get my sick girl, it does just seem wrong on so many levels. Ew. Trying to muster up the courage...
