Utah!

Sphinx---regarding our talk about Polish---I noticed on Mahonri's 3rd annual easter hatch thread that the member "Illia" has polish eggs. She is from PA though, a long ways to mail eggs----I have been debating getting the Polish eggs to try under my Jap broody and trying to get the dates right to join the easter hatch just for fun. Did you know of somewhere else to get Polish eggs that is closer? I cannot remember if I asked you....if I cannot work the dates out right (watch my girl decide to stop being broody as soon as I get hatching eggs lol :p) then I will still be interested if you try to hatch polish so let me know if you do it :)

Lisa, the seller whom I got my GLW from offered me some polish eggs. I was going to take her up on it once I was ready to hatch again. When do we have to set for the easter hatch? Maybe I'll have her ship them to me in time for that. I am going to hatch batches of eggs in three of my kids' classes. Talk about being hands off- I will have very limited access if I do a classroom hatch, and I don't have access to the school outside of school hours!

I have pictures. Here is Zuli, the chick I had to hatch out myself. She's still not quite fluffed out.

This is just one of the other BLRW that wanted to be photographed.

And just for Cynthia, my lavender ameraucanas:

The biggest chick:

And the tiniest chick (named Lucy)

Precious pics again Sphinx:) You are having all the fun! Here is the link : https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/625456/mahonris-3rd-annual-byc-easter-hatch-a-long there is a form to send in and you post that you are "IN"! It looks fun. I am debating doing it, just have to figure out if the eggs coincide with my broody girl's habits. I expect her to snap out of it here shortly, then 2-3 weeks from now....then will have to see. I can only put 3 I think under her, she is tiny....any idea how many to put under a little bantam like that? I was guessing 3....I have no idea though lol!

My experience with bantams is extremely limited (I saw some at the state fair once or twice), but I think you're right- 3 max.

I shouldn't do the Easter Hatch- the next two or three batches I do are supposed to be at the kids' schools. So, I'm going to set them on a Wednesday, probably late morning, so that way, they'll definitely hatch during the school week. Planning them to hatch on a Saturday is a good way to guarantee I'll go crazy- Can you imagine being unable to check on your eggs from 4pm Friday to 8am Monday? YIKES!!!! I'd get arrested for breaking into the school!

Cynthia, didn't you buy your lavender eggs from someone here? If so, who was it?

The first pic of the lavender looks more girlish. :)) Getting that tail more out there.

Here's a link to one of her ads..this person won the auction at a better price than I did. Oh well, I only have 3 babies left, and I have someone that wants the other two..so, hoping I get a girl picked out. They are pretty. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...raucana-hatching-eggs-10-excellent-bloodlines
I have someone in California that wants my lavender cochin bantams, but I don't ship! They are pretty. That lavender color really shows up when you have them next to my blue Ameraucana out side..they are a lighter color for sure.

Sphinx, Yes they are pretty lenient, I've never heard anything about how many you can and cannot have. Our town and county is all farms and fields. I have 39 hens and 3 rooster. I am going to get more soon, I ordered an incubator and can't wait to try it out. We also have Goats, 2 of wich are pregnant and due anytime now.

Lisa, those hatch a longs are waay fun! I did the Christmas one. That's how I got that swing for my chickens. Sounds like they are going to have a lot of different contests going to.
