LaVerne: See the white frosty tips? Also, bigger muffs, smaller pupils.

Then there is Shirley. Bigger Pupils! Pretty Eyes....muffs not as big. There are teensy white specks starting under her chin, but little...

Lisa! They are beautiful!! Oh I hope the one I kept from sonew is going to turn out this pretty. I love, love, LaVerne! How adorable is she?? She looks like a sweet girl too. Shirley has some sweet eyes there. It looks like they are going to be straight combs doesn't it.>>but they are going to be pea combs. Pretty sure. Trying to look close, but pictures are hard to go buy, but I'm thinking more pea comb will come out more like my Ameraucana did..she has a nice sized pea comb now..my blue girl. Oh man, I want a black EE! I am really thinking my one is a girl now.

Thanks for the love! Yes, in person they do look pea comb, just raised slightly :) I am hoping for your black girl too, to be a girl......it has to happen! Funny how different they are. from a distance their posture and shape is exactly the same...but up close it is getting so easy to tell them apart. When they were little it was hard, unless I cheated and looked at the feet---LaVerne has the feathers on hers. Now that I spotted those tiny white specks on Shirley's chin today I am wondering if they will keep spreading like LaVerne's did. But her muffs are lots smaller. My favorite is LaVerne too---I like the eyes most on Shirley, but everything else--looks, personality, goes to LaVerne. Gotta love those silly whiskers! She is more curious, comes around for a pat, likes people, but shy with the other chickens and hides...Shirley was bossy but now just has a presence with the others, never mean though---they do not mess with her and she does not mess with them. She is kind of blah with the humans though, could really take us or leave us, this is why I like LaVerne. :D

Fun to see them all grown up huh! I wish their sister would have made it...but glad a cute replacement came along for you. Sonew really does have gorgeous birds. When you can get some pics up I would love to see :)

Hi all!

I've been lurking about here for quite some time and I have to say, you all are an amazing group of folks! I live in Bountiful, where, of course, it is totally illegal to keep chickens (consequently, I have NO idea where those funny looking birds I and several of my neighbors have running about in their backyards came from!), but we have land up in Duchesne where we have built Fort Chicken and have been breeding a really lovely group of BLRW's (yay! I get to hatch more eggs now that they are laying!). Definitely a work of love and a ridiculous amount of time and money! Anyway, in true chicken math style, I am now really lusting after Cream Legbars (such eye-candy!) and am wondering if anyone knows of someone here in Utah who might have hatching eggs available for them? I know I could just order the chicks from Greenfire, but I much prefer hatching my own and I have a lovely Sporstman incubator on the way to further my little addiction, er, hobby.

I have loved looking at all your wonderful pics of the little babies you've all hatched out! I have 12 eggs on day 7 in my Little Giant right now (Wyandotte mixes, sort of a test hatch for my babies who've just started laying) and I'm ridiculously excited for that first pip. Probably going to get a little obsessive by day 21, but it's my first hatch of the year, so I make allowances. :)

River rock family farms has cream crested legbars but I don't know if they are selling hatching eggs, I know they are selling day old chicks though.

Hi Donna! and Hi Kimmypie! I love that those birds just inadvertently show up at random haha! Good for you. If you hatch those legbar eggs yourself, you know you will have a fan club on here, I have seen others looking for those, awwww the blue eggs.....good luck on your quest!
