I knew there was a reason I liked her so much :) She has mad skills with chicken math. Go girl go!

Bwahahahahaha! I'm afraid that Lisa's polish are contagious to me too! I kind of want one now too!

I ran out back and took a picture of the thistle I'm talking about. It has been a nightmare to tame.

Oh those things! You have to use 'stump killer'. Pour it right on top of those buggers, it goes to the root, and (hopefully) kills them all, be generous, dump lots on them. We built a house in what was a pasture---that was how we got rid of them. They have a giant rootball that spreads like 50 feet all over and sprouts up. Try it! It really works.

We've had some hard weed to get rid of, that the chickens won't eat..but, can't be putting weed killer on them, so, we stab those suckers with a screwdriver, then pour boiling water on them. Works most of the time, may need to do it again, but boiling water they don't like! And, don't have to worry what pet happens upon it.
You girls are having a lot of fun buying up baby chicks from where ever it is you are getting them. Do have any left?

You better leave some for Shinx. I still need to find my pictures. Lisa, when I show you my frizzle boy, you will want one. I didn't keep mine, not the best layers,, well, plus he was a boy, but I didn't keep any girls because I heard they don't lay well. Looking for baby polish pics, and my pretty Frizzle!

Cynthia---agree on the frizzles, there is just nothing cuter than that---but the eggs are kind of the point, so I passed on those---but it was HARD! They had red, white and black. Actually it seems like IFA had just about everything yesterday---I do not remember seeing all the fancy kinds last year, but I was not looking as closely. Would love to see your pics!

The stump killer----you put it on really heavy, wait 24 hrs and keep your pets inside runs/house....then water it really good and should be no problem. After the 24 hrs it evaporates, then the watering to rinse just to be safe. Never tried boiling water, will have to get my teapot out and try that! Much cheaper!

use vinegar for weed killer. i use white vinegar. it may not work as fast as roundup but its less harmful to you and the enviorment. i worked in a lot of greenhouses over the years and used tons of different chemicals and i still have health issues from it all. use natural ways first. i weed torch is great if you are safe with it. you can get them at harbor freight for $20 and you just hook it up to a propane tank like you use on a bbq. but yeah vinegar is cheap and it does work. be safe everyone!

One dose or do you reapply after a bit? Good idea. Vinegar is pretty cheap in those gallon jugs.
