Utah!

Chiko,
Someone at my work yelled "Earthquake!" at 10:15, and then we all laughed and got back to work. Probably not the best thing to do, but if there IS ever an earthquake at my work then I'm pretty dead anyways- I work on the top floor of a glass building- yikes!
Havent been on the thread the past couple days, but logging on to see your fluffy ducks made my day! I cant wait to add a couple of khaki campbells to my round-up, but that blue one makes me want to reconsider my breed choice! The Araucana is really cute too!

He is supposed to be a rooster but the wife really wanted him to be a cuckoo maran. Any chance he is a cuckoo ? The wife wanted to be able to get those chocolate eggs and to do a little breeding of them.  Sorry about the spelling on HenRee lol

Oh ya he is 6 weeks old.

does he have any feathers on his feet? he may be a maran, he has some of those greenish feathers that they tend to have but then again aussies may have those too... i think a sure fire way to know is if he has feathers on his legs and feet

lol that sucks you're at the top of a glass building, our school building is completely earthquake proof. It has the reinforced concrete and steel...stuff...they said if there ever was an earthquake, the building would just move a little bit. :)rolleyes::lol:) How do they know?!

The ducklings are really cute aren't they :D I'm crossing my fingers the blue one is a girl otherwise my older male will go bye bye! (just kidding) Swedish are my favorite ducks so sweet and good layers :) You should get one of each ;) I love my Araucana so much!

Nope no feathers. He is supposed to look like a barred rock that has fused out.

Cynthia!!!! My barred EE you gave me laid an egg! I'm actually kind of disappointed since it's not blue, or chocolate, or even brown. It's white  How could a chick that hatched from a blue egg, and have all the features of an EE, and even have tons of Marans features and lay a white egg?! :rant lol It's a good sized egg, I should have known it was close since her pelvic bones are 3 fingers apart :D that means an egg is coming! I guess I should just be grateful with what I have :) I already have a blue egg layer anyways :) And my Araucana just has a few more months to go

Oh and yesterday somehow the NH Roo managed to mount her and mate her....He did..um..you know......so could this egg be fertile? It probably is but it might not be smart to incubate a first egg :/

And yes, I called Suzee and she was over like that (*snaps*) lol She took him and was really happy she got her Heritage NH :D

Cynthia, those babies really seem to want to get out, don't they? So exciting!

Hector, I forgot there was a shakeout today until you mentioned anything. Whenever this valley gets a big earthquake, I'm in for a wild ride. The hill in our back yard is a fault line. Oh boy, good times.

Well, I figured it's my turn for a bit of a picture dump. So here you all go

My gray EE. Her feather coloration is getting so unique. At first I thought her legs could be slate, but it turns out they're green. Boo. She's getting a little bit of green in her eyes, too. Very pretty.

Different lighting to show off the feather pattern, but this is the EE again.

Hey look, I got some framing done all by myself! And I only found one board that was warped *facepalm*

Lisa! BABIES!

Here's the little one. Her feathers are so long, it's crazy. I would be tickled pink if she got the frizzle gene.

cute chicks! the fault line in your backyard has not been active in a very, very long time so you do not have to be worried as much :) the more active faults are in northern and southern utah area for the most part if my memory is right. it will do your head in trying to read all the usgs maps and info lol

Thanks birdman. Yeah, I hope it doesn't do too much. I'm always relieved when we get the pipsqueak quakes, since that means pressure is being relieved. I didn't know that the hill was a fault line until a few years ago. I've lived with it all my life, but it's still just a little disconcerting to know that I'm sleeping twenty feet from one of those, y'know? However, if it does go, I've got a cowboy hat, so I'm all set to run out there like a madwoman and ride that baby

At least, in theory.

Aw red they look so cute :) love your gray EE, so pretty! I have one more of my chicks getting those long skinny feather wings. Never seen that before. It will be Interesting to see how that looks as they get older! Way to go on your framing. Looks good so far :) Love the chickie pics with the pretty flowers.
Kimmy---those pics---my guess---I think the BR is a boy, and I would be watching Welsummer #2. The rest did not send any alarms off to me.
Cynthia---so exciting your first chick! Cannot wait for the pictures!
Chiko, congrats on the white egg! How funny to get a white one, the last thing you were looking for I am sure!

Phoenix, your black roo really looks textbook Australorp. My grandpa raised those....neighbors have them....there is something about their eyes that sets them apart from the other breeds, their pupils are huge. Also the backend fans out...the feathers do not come to a point as much back there....and the little single comb is right...I bet they got the chicks messed up at IFA. My two polish I got there are totally different colors than the label said. How about the other 2 that you got? Any chance you might have one boy and one girl or do they both look like girls? I am thinking about getting another batch of those dark eggs from the FBCM's if you want any more chicks. She said she might be at chickenstock, but just maybe....if she goes I want to try and get some eggs and maybe started pullets....I want to make sure I get some girls from her! Also I have 6 eggs in the bator that look good, due to hatch 4/26. I am keeping them all for awhile to see what they turn out to be, if you wanted a mating pair from those if there is one you are welcome to it :)

Our nubian had triplets Saturday night.. This little girl has been named Miracle by the kids since she was not breathing when she was born but after a lot of working on her, we got her to breathe.. brought her home and syringe fed her for two days... She was finally able to stand last night and tonight is doing great!!

here's her brothers outside for the first time tonight
