Utah!

I'm happy that you like your "new" antique egg basket, Lisa. :) My great-grandparents had 1,200 chickens to collect from every day, so we had an abundance of them. LOL Can't wait to see the sign you make for it!

Red, I'm so sorry about your chick, and that you can't find your hen. I hope she shows up soon, and that you find lots of chicks running around! :) Yep, that's my filly in the picture. She's growing out very nicely! She just turned 2 and we'll start training soon. We have a huge family reunion we have to get ready for that is happening May 26, and it's currently eating up all my time. Here's a better picture of "Karma". Of course, standing in her favorite corner of the pasture that's all trampled down, so it looks like we are being so mean to her with all that green grass on the other side of the fence. LOL
Oh, she's a dun in color.

BluJems, the goats are 8 weeks and 1 year. Yep, don't need the bottle anymore. They are settling in pretty well.

A Memorial Day weekend hatch-a-long! This is gonna be fun! I'm going to candle my eggs tonight, since it will be day 3, at 3pm this afternoon.

I love your filly, sasha!

I have decided I need an egg collecting basket. My neighbor has one, and the breeder who gave me my eggs had one. The eggs look so pretty in those cute wire baskets that I simply must have one.

So, I have the reputation of being crazy chicken lady at the school. Another teacher hatched eggs yesterday, and one of the chicks has a splayed leg. She brought him to me, asking if anything could be done. I taped his leg up, like I'm so good at doing now, and put him back with the others. He started trying to stand again almost immediately, which I thought was a great sign. They originally had been on newspaper, which I suggested they get rid of. Now, they're right on the metal cage. Is that ok for splayed leg, or do you think they should put a towel down or something for a day or two?

Now I really want to see these baskets you all are talking about. We just have an easter bucket filled with that fake grass stuff for Jessi to collect eggs...of course pink bucket and pink grass. What all does everyone use to collect eggs? I am now very curious.

Sasha that horse is beautiful.
Red sorry about that chick, I hope your hen has more hidden somewhere.

I have never seen such beautiful Welsummer eggs! I have had two Welsummers in my past..they never laid eggs like this..speckled yes, big yes, but never had them this dark! Just beautiful. I put her card and picture of their place on the carton so you could see where they came from. I hope these hatch! I know it's going to be hard to see in them after a while, so will be candling early on, around day 5 and/or 6.

Speckled beauties.
