Utah!

Well, I'm man enough to admit that we have too many chickens. It's a sad day indeed.

I think the problem started when we got a broody hen and thought it would be cool to hatch a few eggs under her. We now have 3 pullets and 1 cockerel that need to go. They are crossed with a French Copper Black Marans rooster and a Rhodes Island White hen. The girls have spots and since I've never seen a spotted chicken they must be really rare! ;)

Should probably let our two youngest Wyandottes go as well since we're over the limit. When we got chicks I assumed one or two wouldn't make it but I'll be danged if they all lived.

I posted them on KSL but will give a $2 discount to BYC members. Here they are:

$7 for the Wyandottes (started laying March of this year)

$3 for the (rare spotted) pullets. Cockerel FREE with Pullet purchase.

Jeez this sounds like my house lol. I was late to an appointment last week because I had not gotten my girls their oatmeal made and I was hurrying to do it first. I do this on Saturday mornings. My husband is like 'Sheesh!' Then I remembered I did not make breakfast for the family woops! lol poor guys. I kinda forgot

But my excuse is my girls give me eggs and my kids give me dirty laundry....so they better shape up

I looked at misters a few weeks ago, I am totally setting them up, so glad I am not the only one. Hey!! You are hatching bantam polish! T-REX do ya hear that? I love those. You selling any extras and where are you? Man I would love another little polish. We rehomed one because it was not the kind we thought we bought at IFA. My son wants a WCB like your avatar. We were going to stick to LF but the ones we got are looking like they are bantams so leaning that direction now. They sure are cute.

I am so glad your HOA is ok with your chickens! yay! And congrats on graduation!
I'm with you Lisa, I would love a white crested but want to make sure of Rocco and Elvis' full grown size before I decide on bantam or not. Besides, every chicken I get cuts into Sasha's allocation. I may just stick with the two and build a tractor for them.

MmmmmI have never seen sizzle chicks for sale around here. I wonder if anybody on BYC breeds them and sells hatching eggs. That would be a lot of fun! Will look around

Sasha when you and daughter #1 have a showdown of chicken and duck eating I will bring my smoker over and we will have a party ! Seriously---good luck with your reunion this weekend. Hope you were able to be ready. I remember hosting those for my hubby's family before his dad passed away. Lots of work! I wish you patience, peace, and fun

(And guests that help clean up---and lots of rest after!)

Thanks, Lisa! I'm scurrying around, trying to get everything in order and I'm exhausted. I know there are a few "reliables" to stay after and help clean up. :)
I'll let ya know when we have the chicken/duck cook out!

No, seriously, my EE roo hasn't ever been mean until this evening. I watched him grab a hold of my SLW's head feathers and pull her down and not let go. She was flapping around and I was beating on the window. Dumb roo finally let go and I ran outside to check the damage-only a few feathers. Grabbed the roo, flipped him upside down in my hands and marched him to his own special dog crate for a time out.

Still have 10 in. I will candle them again soon to see how they are doing.

Now I am excited for yours to hatch, yay. Can't wait to see what you get.
I'm excited, too! These eggs have been really active the last couple days. I can't seem to keep a thermometer on top of them because they are moving all over the place! We were without power for a few hours this afternoon. I think all of Hyrum was. My eggs hit 92 and we still didn't have power and I started panicking. I put them out in my car because it was much warmer in there, but then Howard was my hero and dug out a power inverter and I plugged my bator in to get the heat rolling. We go in to lockdown tomorrow at 3pm! (ish) I have 11 eggs. I did toss the iffy one yesterday, as it was definitely dead. :(
I don't want to end this post on a negative note, so...Howard cut a 55 gallon plastic barrel for the goats to jump on. While he was bent over, the little 10 week old baby, Minnie, decided Howard was just the next step up and jumped up on his back and wagged her cute little tail because she was so pleased. LOL!

Sphinx-I LOVE your new fire pit! Good job!

Auntie Hattie-I had a great grandma on my dad's side named "Grandma Hattie". :) So glad your HOA approves of your chickies.

And glad we can keep you and the board entertained.

Blujems-I hope you feel better soon! My body does not do well with pretty much any kind of man-made drug. I started using doTerra essential oils over a year ago, and I use them for EVERYTHING now. Just ask my DH.

I drive him crazy. "There's an oil for that!" LOL

Thanks Lisa. I'm just hatching these eggs because my sister wanted one. I hope they all hatch. I got these eggs from a breeding in California. She is a BYC member. She is the one I got my little Polish from. These eggs should be WCB Polish,Cuckoo and WC Chocolate.
If they all hatch there should be extras so I should have one for you if you would like. I love the Polish breed. Mine is the sweetest. I will be taking these with the Silkies i hatched for her to Idaho on Sunday I hope. I live in Washington Utah so I think you are somewhere along my way. It sounds like you will have chicks so you could just add a little Polish chick to them. Have I talked you into it yet?;) I'll let you know what hatches :D

SashaT - Two reasons I don't have Roos one because I'm not aloud to have them  and two because they can be so mean! I like how you handled yours. Way to protect your girlies!

Thanks, I need to have my vit. levels checked too, I just found out vit d is good for nerve damage too. I haven't heard much about oils. That is interesting. Now I am going to have to do more research.

LOL, Yes you have to be careful when you bend over near goats. The babies Love to jump, I have lots of bruises form babies, and lots of foot prints on my clothes.

Some Roo's are evil little boys...I just got rid of one that was like that...so far the rest are being good.

They should be 3/4 their full grown size at this age. Sure look small don't they! If you do separate them you will likely need another hen or two so your roo does not drive your girl crazy. :duc :ya

I accidentally became a DoTerra rep, but I have to admit I'm not so good with how to use them yet.

Aunt Hattie, good luck on your hatch!!

I figure mine will be coming on Wednesday.
