Utah!

Cynthia, I'm a little concerned. I went out to commune with the chickens, and your little lavender is making a weird noise. Is this normal for her? I've never heard anything like it? It's pretty constant. She wanders around the enclosure making that sound.

Oh my goodness Wendy..separate her from the others..she sounds like she is coughing! Stress can bring on upper respiratory...after I watched that I went outside and checked all my chickens..scared me to death! They are all fine. She has been stressed by the separation and the moving..they really can get sick from being stressed. I don't think she got it from any of the other flock, or even from the Partridge. I saw her birds...watched them before I brought her home, and she was doing fine..is she doing ok? I would put that little lavender somewhere else..oh boy, more stress. Poor thing, let me know how it goes. But do get her out..the thing is, she's already been in with your others. I would feel just awful if they all got sick because of one of my birds! I'm stressing now! Have you heard of Denagard?? Get it! Treat all of your flock. You can eat eggs even while they are being treated..best stuff in the world. Works fast too, faster than any of the anti-biotics. If you want, I will meet with you at Winco and give you some of mine before yours gets to you if you don't have any. You can only get it online. Now that I have scared you half to death..if it is upper respiratory, they can get over it and be fine. You will know if that's what she has by how your others act. On a more positive note, none of mine are acting up with any coughing, sneezing, or weezing..so maybe she is just doing her own stressful thing..but I would still treat everyone..I am now going to treat mine, just to be on the safe side. Actually, I will only give them the small amount they suggest for keeping them from getting something. I will look up the Denagard site for you. Let me know if you want to meet.

Ok I finally took a few pictures. I have my bantam RTR with 2 lakenvelder chicks and a mystery yelloe chick. I have my silkie with a couple of polish chicks, a blue cochin and a black cochin chick. The Baenvelder I have for sale the EE I have for sale, The Jersey Giant I have for sale, The Turkin I have for sale and the smooth faced Americana

Ok, I've been standing out there watching my chickens for the past half hr., they all seem fine..it can take up to 48 hrs. for them to get sick if another is sick. Can you tell I'm stressing out for you Wendy! I don't want your chickens to be sick!
Anyway, they all sound just fine, I promise, if they start sneezing, I will let you know. Then everyone will want to stay away from my house. :( I'm not too worried about them though. I just gave them a preventative treatment of the Denagard. My leghorn hates it..they really don't like the taste, but if they have no other water to get to, then they drink it..I put a lot of sugar in it. So, so far so good. I will treat them again tomorrow, then they should be good, unless, I see something started, then I will treat with a stronger dose for two more days. You can tell, I've been through it in the past, but it's been a good year and a half! I just read up on how they can get upper respiratory and yes, stress is one cause. I stressed her out Wendy! I'm sorry! She didn't like being put in that other coop at night.
Keep me updated. I am with Lisa..she's family.

Pretty chickens! I love the pink and blue, and grey? Cute! :))

Have any of you heard of the coup tours on June 23? Christy from Shadowbrook told me about it when I picked up a spare incubator from her. its where people in the
Salt lake Valley open up their coops and people drive around and see them, She was told to expect 300 cars. Crazy, sounds fun. If I can find a link with more information I will post ir. So I have a spare incubator now, tomorrow I will go back to post office to get my other eggs and we will see what happens. This chicken venture is taking over the part of the house that the cats don't. The incubators are on the kitchen table. Cats aren't allowed up there. My husband is wondering id pretty soon I'll have another venture that will move him out. I told him Nah I wouldn't do that I needed him to build me a bigger coop
Here is the information on chicken week. I think it sounds like fun. A little common sense goes a long way toward preventing dosease. i have a bottle of spray disenfectant for people to spray on shoes when they come over and some hand sanitizer for hand cleaning

Honestly, I think it is stress, and not necessarily illness. Did you see that when I picked her up and petted her, she fell asleep and stopped making the weird noise? I can't separate her because 1- my quarantine coop is filled with 14 chicks that are too small to be with the big girls and 2- I'm afraid it would just stress her out even more. I'm just going to cross my fingers that she settles down.

I have my webcam up and going. At 2pm, I saw that the third egg (coronation sussex) had pipped. When I went to set up the webcam after school, it didn't seem to be moving anymore. I have a bad feeling about it. The other two are still chirping and moving.

You make me feel better..I hope she is ok..and I think you are right, she would just stress out more if moved again. Good luck, keep the stuff in mind if you think she is needing it, I can get some to you for a few days. I just got a pm from Brad saying he is ocd about his coop and girls..I think I'm the same way. My girls have been well for so long. I'm glad to hear that she doesn't make the noise when she is settled, that is a good sign. She just may need to get used to her new home. I'll try and settle down myself now.

That's Shirley. I think if she was at a slightly different angle, she'd be out already, but the wall is in her way.

Can you see the janitor in the reflection? I've been giggling over that.
