I have been trying to learn the different chicken colors. For all you color experts. What is the difference between a Bard color such as a bared rock and a cuckoo They look the same to me Now ask me about a cat color and I can go into great detail but I need to be educated on the chicken colors

good question, I can tell the difference in person. But can't really explain it.

Blu, love your birds. Is this the little one that was so jumpy and had a hard time fitting in? How is she doing? Still jumpy?

Lisa, thanks, I may have to try that. I have tried shooing, poking, and grabbing the culprits, but it doesn't seem to do much good. Stevie and Angel have accepted the SLW, at least, but I caught her trying to pick on Angel last night. And we are having none of that. Nooo sir. I think I'll have to pick a day to camp out and work on my aim with the squirt bottle.

Sundance, I think I may have to build a separate run altogether, because even the big girls pick on the SLW. Of course, they pick on the others, too. Little brats..............I had to put the two sweetest ones in the timeout box, since they're the biggest meanies. Go figure. I'm not sure what color that bird is of yours, but it's lovely. The first picture you had up of it almost looked like a Blue Laced Red, but I honestly don't know what it is.

Kidasoto, I wish I could help on that one, but I haven't tried giving my teens pellets yet. Mostly because the only pellets I have are laying pellets. They get scratch and whatever they want to eat out of the yard when foraging, but I think I may have to start giving my older girls the pellets soon. Two of them are starting to get pretty pink in the face. Haha sorry, my answer was absolutely no help, was it?

Good question. From what I've been able to observe, the Barred Rocks have neater, crisper lines of black and white on them. The cuckoo coloration seems a little more jumbled and uneven. And don't even ask me about the California grays. Because I still haven't figured them out

Last time we were in Mexico someone wanted to buy his shoes for $ 1000.00 if he would autograph them. I told him to autograph them in a scribble with his own name and take the money, Joke, but he wouldn't Dang

Hope you can get them to get along eventually and I really hope you do not have to build another seperate run. Isn't that ameraucana of blujem's the one that Cynthia sent with you, then you sent with me, then I sent to Cindy lol? It was just in the middle agewise and everybody was mean to her. And I thought it may end up a boy....She sure is turning out nice. And girlie! Glad it worked out for ya Blu, hope you get really nice 'blu' eggs!

That is way too funny He really does look like him. I remember seeing this pic a while back and doing a double take, I meant to say something back then, and just lost track of the post and who he belonged to. Is this your DH?

I didn't think Jack at first. He actually reminds me of a gentleman in my stake. But there ya go. I'm usually not in tune with the obvious stuff.

Yep, This is the one...I finally didn't know what to do with her, so I threw her in with the Old English and the Blue spash ameraucana. After a few days everything was fine. It was just the initial fighting that was hard to watch. Luckily it was not so bad that I felt the need to intervene. Now the ameraucana roost together. She is still a little flighty but not real bad.
