Sundance, if you want olive eggs I guess the ritual is paint your wall first, then it happens lol. Sphinx yours matches perfectly it is awesome! haha :D

Red, that is one cute boy you have there, he turned out really good! Such a bummer it is a boy though....I thought that one would be a girl for ya :/ Shoot!
Hoping the one from Cynthia is a girl for sure.

A crow-less rooster? :th Can you imagine how many chickens I would have?

Red... cute pic of that chicken on your head!! I'm sad I won't get to meet you but THANKS for babysitting!!!

Sphinx.... holy cow those thistles are awful!! Hopefully the chickens can do some serious damage to them, I know I've seen mine eat them...

Sun... is it you that's going on a cruise?? Have fun!!

DH left tonite with the 2 older kiddos to visit his fam in Ogden... should've set-up a BYC UT party, but I had to stay behind with my baby because of meetings I have..... Oh well... next time!!

LOL Lisa!!! That would be me too=) (on the rooster comment!!)

Wow, Red I'm not sure I like her set up either- telling people that everything is pullets even though it's straight run?  Hmmmm.  That icelandic roo is awfully cute.

It sounds like you and Birdman had a nice visit.

Jwoo, I don't blame you for being skittish, that would be so sad to lose a hen that way.

As for the thistles, it's out in our pasture area. They weren't getting that bad until our neighbor's had their house foreclosed on. Well, first, they had a horse, and it wasn't fed enough, and completely reduced their pasture to dirt. Then, the moved out, and their entire yard was consumed with thistles. They've been creeping their way over, and it's just gotten worse and worse. New neighbors moved in, and we've both been battling them, but it's been awful.  I don't care if the chickens trample the area bare, as long as the thistles are gone.  Here's one little area along the fenceline:

Here's the floor we put in for our new henhouse today.  It's coming along nicely.
wow that is a lot of thistle! i see the only option is you getting a few goats to eat them :p

Daloorashens and Cynthia, are your wheaten babies nice to each other? Mine are starting to fight. All day they are jumping on each other  it is really getting on my nerves. And nothing really gets on my nerves. ever. I think I might split them up, I have 9 in the brooder, and they are getting big enough maybe they need more room......never had babies do this before.

Hey there! I was just looking at your pics in your siggie. Cute! I like your BSL/maran girl --and your blue orp pretty lacing on her. Did you get her at chickenstock? I am trying to remember I know you told me.....was she from Bonnie? Pretty girls. All of them!

Hi back=) The BSL/Maran is named Sophie, I love that name, the boys named her... those 3 pullets in that pic are all from Bonnie... So far have been happy with them, and they've even socialized pretty well, my boys hold them a few times a day and they have become very tolerant, especially Blue, and actually Red (amer) is pretty chill, too, it's Sophie that doesn't like to be touched much..
My wheaten chickies do spar sometimes, but nothing too crazy, the brooder they're in is pretty big, plus I've been putting them outside on the nice days, maybe that helps??

Going to put this out there, just in case someone MIGHT be interested... 2 of my teenagers are roos and I won't be able to keep them... One is a Barred Rock and the other is an EE, I think the EE is going to be really pretty, one of those black and white ones... He is also the more dominant of the 2... They've been held a lot, so they're pretty friendly... there is a pic of them in "My Crew" pics, But I'll try and get some better pics of them by themselves... If I can't find homes for them, they will have to go to freezer camp once they are old enough...

Another thing. on KSL there is an add for pullet chicks in Taylorsville, I went to see them as she lives really close to me, She has an incubator in her garage, She says everything she hatches is pulletts. I asked her what happened if she tells people that and they end up Roosters, She says oh I'll take them back. She keeps the onse she sells and says she will keep them for 4 weeks until they are coop ready in a dog crate in her garage. She has 7 kids and another one on the way so she does this for extra money, I was not thrilled at the conditions

Yeah, I'd be leery of anyone who sells straight run chicks as "all pullets"

The whole thing just sounds unorganized and weird.

Daloorashens----I had an EE the same columbian color pattern, just loved him!! His sister is somewhat columbian looking too, but she ended up much more speckled through her torso, not as white. Got both from Cynthia. I was able to sell the boy for cold hard cash, had several people call on him after seeing the pics on KSL so maybe worth a shot. I really like those, but hardly ever see them for sale.

Ok I need a hen that lays olive eggs, Anyone have any extra

I will have...hatched 5/11 and 6/1. I was planning to keep them til they are laying so I'd know the egg color from my pairs. And then sell them about October. So keep me in mind if you can wait.

I'm looking for a polish crested or a showgirl as a gift for my brother in law. He has been my hatch buddy, he got bators first, filled them with my eggs, and many followed. He's tried to hatch polish and showgirls and not had luck with shipped eggs.
