You would have an EE
tan egger + blue egger = green egger, light
dark brown (marans or welsummer) egger + blue egger = olive egger
olive egger (F1) + dark brown again = really dark olive egger (F2)
Usually. Or they sometimes tease ya and lay the same as just one of the parents

Lisa, Sounds like you have this figured out. I don't. Some of my EE(Leghorn/Amer) are boys, and I know some of the EE(Marans/Amer) are boys. I was going to send them to camp, and keep one roo, and only do first generations EEs. Is there any reason I should keep them for another generation for better egg color or production?

One is double tufted for sure the other i think is clean faced. Not sure about rumpless yet I am not handling too much just letting them rest and eat drink. My new bator came today

What kind did you get? I have fertile EE eggs if you need some cheap (FREE) ones to try it out with.

If you have a hen that lays olive, and breed her back to another Marans the babies can potentially lay super dark grayish stone/olive green eggs.....some will and some won't....
BYC user 'pawtraitart' does the 2nd generation olive eggers her page is http://qcupoultry.com/ if you want to look, the info should be on there, scroll down to the olive egger section :) It is hit and miss but if you get one that does the eggs are really nice! I was going to try and hatch some this year, but due to my out of control chicken math i am waiting until next spring :) She would have great info on this I just learned what I know from talking to her about it :)

http://chickenwarehouse.com/494/auto-egg-incubator-jn8-48/ Link to incubator I just got. I'm leaving for 10 days on Monday to go to Alaska. I've ordered some eggs to put in it. some sizzles, some Frizzled Americanas, some Duncle mille fleurs, some olive eggs. and some more Auracanas If you want me to hatch some of your EE's let me know. I've fought the temperature and humidity with the styrofoam one. this looks really nice and my hope is that this one will do better. I want to set the eggs then go on vacation. When I get back I should only have a week or so until I get babies. I felt like if I had a better bator I would get better hatches. Time will tell.

Red, sorry about all the chicken trouble you are having. I hope that hen's leg makes a full recovery. Those boys I gave you are definitely mutts- they don't look much at all like GLW, do they? You'll have to let me know if they're delicious or not. I can't believe you have NEGATIVE chickens. You definitely need some of Cynthia's Exchequers.

Sundance, hopefully that last sizzle is ok. I've had some chicks that just seem more exhausted from the hatching than others. I try not to worry for about 24 hours.

Delarooshens, have fun at girls camp! We never had a nurse there, very fancy. I bet you'll have a great time.

We got dd's cast on today, and have already added glitter and dolphins, and she is absolutely thrilled with it.

AWWW send a picture. Poor little sizzle. She is just laying there peeping and she is dry but not fluffed up like the other chickens. I had another auracana pip. Welcome mamma hen

Sundance, once she is completely dry, if she's still not fluffed up, use a soft bristled toothbrush and very gently brush her. That will fluff her right up.

Sphinx, your daughter looks happy about her new cast! Ooh, I see a porpoise, too! Cute.

Yeah, the one cockerel that looked the most like a GLW was also clearly a mutt. He had some of that RIR peeking through on his breast, if I remember correctly. Duke, who has the single comb there, is quite a bit meatier than his brother. Big boys, and fun to watch in the yard.

She is darling and so is her cast. I pulled 6 eggs from bator 1 that did not hatch. 4 had fully formed dead chicks in them. Nice big air cells on top. What would cause them to die like that? Tell DD if I see Dolphins in Alaska I will try to take some pictures for her.
