well we are all for educating and learning here so feel free to ask any questions you have :)

Ok Lisa.... Here are pics of the Wheatens and Delawares, and Cynthia, one of the the EE's and FBCM's... I added pics of the grow-out coop and run to the pics on My Coop list...
This one in the front is the one I think is a roo... see how pink his comb is?? I love how he is feathering out though, very pretty... And the one I think is blue is behind him...

This is the one I think is blue...??

In this one you can see the size difference between the Delawares and Wheatens... as well as how differently the Delawares are feathering in... (they are the ones in the front between the Wheatens)

Ok, now this is for Cynthia.... A closer one of the chickies from you... for anyone who wants to know, these are Leghorn EE's and FBCMs...

I thought this was really cute of one of the EE's...

And Good luck everyone who is by those fires!! YUCK!!

Hattie... hope your hatch is going well!!

We moved the teenagers into the grow-out pen today, yippee!! Which means the hens went back in to fully occupy their coop and run... YAY!!!!!

Birdguy if you are on here, what do you think? Have you had Delawares before? Are you sure they sent us the right birds from Cackle?

If they didn't I have 46 more out in the brooder that won't work for my breeding project.. LOL

As far as I know, they are correct... I am seeing a variety in the amount of dark that is coming in on the feathers right now.. some are almost all white and others have a lot of dark coming in... and everything in between.. It will be fun to see how they end up feathering out over the next few months.
These are my first Delawares... have heard nothing but good about the breed and couldn't ever find any locally so.....I had to order some...

My missing Icelandic turned up! Yay!

The little stinker must have just been well hidden while he was napping. He seems to be fine now, just a little jumpy.

Dalooras, wow. It's incredible to see how fast those chicks are growing! (the ones I babysat) I'm really starting to think that the Leghorn EE I brought home is a boy. He's not near as feathered out as yours look. He's still a cute little fuzzball, though.

Cynthia, sorry that you guys are getting the smoke now

That nasty wind just needs to go away for a few days so that it can be replaced by rain! I went and voted for your pic of the sleeping chick. It's one of my all-time favorite chick pictures.

scott reed, welcome!

Joybells, I'm happy to hear that you're having fun with the new babies from Lisa. I really wish I had the room right now for Lola, but I'm glad she's going to a good home, nonetheless

Kidasoto-what an awesome accomplishment for your daughter and her cousins! They looked as pleased as punch. :)

Congratulations!

Joybells-I'm happy for you. New additions are always fun, and you got to meet our cutie, Lisa. :)

Hattie-I hope hatching is going well.

I have been using a sprinkler to soak my chickens outdoor area before I put them out in the morning, and it helps keep them cooler throughout the day. I'll periodically add ice cubes to their water, and provide lots of shade. Watermelon is a huge hit with them!

To everyone affected by the fires-I'm so sorry you have to deal with that.

That's just awful. I hope everyone's outdoor critters don't suffer as well.

Out of curiosity, is anyone else on this board an amateur radio operator? (KC9AVU, here!)

Birdguy Good to know! I sure do love my girls. Er....girl. Mine were identical, except the one I kept had a tiny dark patch on her head. Lucy :) She is very sweet too. I am really liking the temperament on that breed so far :)

Daloorashens, yours has got to be a boy for sure! That is the pattern michelle talked about. Exactly how she described it. more calico-ey with dark blotches. And look at how he stands. Pretty studly :) Really pretty! You going to keep him at your Mom's for breeding? Her roos that are Wheaten have lots of black that come in on them. the blues look lighter to me, so I am thinking this is a Wheaten roo in the making....will be fun to see him I hope you can keep him :)

Welcome Scott Reed! Congrats on your new chicks, and glad you are sharing!

Kid-your pics are adorable, how proud you must be!

hattie!!!! Can't wait to see your babies, good luck! Has your sis said how her wheatens look? Wondering what gender and colors she ended with. Hoping for girls!

Red---did you find your boy? That is terrible! Houdini! I hope you find him, you have had enough bad news this last week to last the rest of 2012. let us know.

UtahChickenDad, I was wondering where you were! I even asked a day or two ago if you had gotten an egg yet, I was thinking it was soon. Congrats! That is the best day ever, getting your first egg! Oh and your wedding, and the days the kids were born......right up there with that! haha :p

Joybells glad your girl settled in. She was so worried in the car. Not cheeping real loud, but more of the little fluttery noises, constant little twittering all the way to you. It was hard to say goodbye to her, I almost changed my mind so many times this morning! Did the EE Lay today? I was wondering if she got stressed out and kept her egg in......I know she was thinking about laying when I grabbed her this morning. Poor girl! Nice to meet you and your folks !

Sundance, your sizzles are very very very very very very CUTE!!!!! I bet you are loving them! I would be over the moon with a hatch of those.

Ok my summary on our trip.....Raging Waters is Yuuuucky! My kids loved it don't get me wrong, but I have never seen it that crowded. It was ridiculous! And they really 'get you coming and going'. No outside food or drink and theirs is way overpriced...tubes extra...parking extra...lines over 30 minutes to slide down. So here is my review for all to see, they are too greedy. We had a discount pass so it was much better but no way I would go and pay for all that stuff when I saw how much it would have been. I liked Lava Hot Springs much better, but the kids loved the slides at RW. But we got to spend some good family time even if it was in the heat and smoke. Argh! i feel so bad for you guys dealing with that nasty air, hope it clears soon. :fl

Daloorashens-love the pictures! Yes, that one Ameraucana sure looks like a boy to me. Very much a younger version of Blujems gorgeous Ameraucana roo.

Red-yay! Soooo glad you found your Icee boy! No more heart-pounding moments anymore now, you hear? (How was the wedding?)

Cynthia-I voted! You're in the lead, yay!
