Utah!

Wow!! As usual, lots going on!!!

Sphinx-- that calf is so cute!! I agree with the finders keepers

Sasha- It's fun to live vicariously through you and your ducks hatching... they do take a long time, don't they!!

Cynthia.. thanks for posting pics of your grow-out pen... and CONGRATS on the egg!!! I'll throw in a rooster, too=)

Red- Your dream is too funny... sounds like you have chicken on the brain, or something!!

Bluejems- cute pics!! Excited to get the other one from Lisa... it's so funny when people call their kids monsters... I might have to joing the crowd!!

Kid- Super cute baby!!! Holy cow, what a pretty little girl!!

Yikes on all the fires-- good luck to you all in the smoke!!

5 babies hatched now; the latest is our little upside down baby. Her abdomen is still attached pretty good to the placenta so she'll be dragging her eggshell around for a little while. No blood though.

I vent sexed the first two....the first born baby that is such a lovey....is a boy. Of course! 2nd hatched is a girl, but I'll be double checking later.
Kid-what a doll!
Cynthia-I'm so sorry about all the smoke. :(
Lisa-Howard says we're done for the year with the incubator and I need to wait until next spring to start hatching again.

Otherwise, I was totally considering sending for some Polish bantam eggs, too! I'm starting to make a mental list for next year of what I want. There are two breeders of beautiful Ameraucana bantams that's at the top of my list that I think I will order from. You know how I love my banties!

Kidsatoto, your baby girl is soooooo adorable! I love brown eyes. None of my kids have them though.

Sasha, glad that baby finally hatched!!! Can you vent sex chickens, or just ducks?

Ok, exactly what is this first to lay contest? I don't want to play if winner gets a rooster. I did have both of my January chicks start laying in the last week or two, so I'm pretty pysched.

Cynthia, that is terrible that the fires are so awful down there. It worries me so much. I hope we get a really great rainstorm. I heard a dj this morning suggest that we start a new tradition here that fireworks take place in January. It would be so wet that no mountains would catch on fire, if someone got burned the snow would be really handy, and it gets dark so early that everyone could be done with fireworks by 7pm.

This is exactly what my hubby and I were saying..why can't they ban them for now since there is such a high chance of fire. Then wait until a cooler, more wet time. Even if for only this year, because the danger is so high. I just went out and rinsed the ash off of my back porch and the cement back there. It's still coming down. I am so worried about my chickens..how did everyones chickens fare in the big one up by Eagle Mountain? Folks that were not evacuated, but still had this coming down on them? Our valley is surrounded by fire. So we are getting the smoke and ash pretty good..poor chickens. They seem fine.

Wendy, you didn't tell us that you had layers? Or did you? I am excited to go out tomorrow to see if she will again, which ever one it was, hoping this smoke doesn't stop them from laying. I feel for those firefighters.

Yeah, Godzilla and Daisy (the RIR and GLW I hatched in January from the shipped eggs from TN) both started laying. Godzilla laid her first egg a couple days before I left for yellowstone, and Daisy laid her first on Tuesday.
