We have our first baby!

Man, is she talkative!!!


She was really beating the other eggs around the bator, so we took her out (had the spray bottle handy!) We weren't worried so much about the other pipped eggs, but for the one goopy baby who's blood vessel I nicked. She's just so goopy looking, but her nose is free so I'm not touching it again....I don't know if she'll make it.

Oh! Didn't get to this post yet! Congrats...what a cutie. I love baby ducks. Their little feet are my favorite.

Hi Jack...
I hope it is okay to post this here in the "Utah!" thread. If not I will take the verbal spanking.

I seemed to have failed in my choices at the pullet tank and now have two cockerels I need to be rid of.

They are approximately 2 month old bantams and very handsome lads. However, since I live in town I cannot have them letting the neighbors know that the sun is around.

Anyway, if anyone would like them or knows of someone that could take them or has any ideas, I (they) would be very appreciative.

Awww shoot. How is it that when I walk away for a little while, this thread multiplies exponentially in posts? Guess I have even more catching up to do!

Did you miss the pics I put up for you??? (Yes I know I'm playing devil's advocate, but what the heck)

I did see them, and those boys are beautiful! I don't dare take any more boys, though, but thank you so much for giving me a chance at them first.

Anydody gotten any eggs yet? By Australorp was sitting in the nest a few minutes ago then jumped out!

I had a dream last night that my chickens were out in the yard, and I heard someone start singing the egg song. I looked up and saw one of the pullets lay a chocolate colored egg and was so excited, I ran over to try and see who it was and get pictures. Then I looked at the egg and thought, "Wow, that's a really dark egg." And THEN, I looked at the pullet and thought, "That looks like one of Lisa's Wheaten Ameraucanas. What the heck?...."

Ah, yes, and to make things even weirder, the egg was shaped like an elbow piece from a sprinkler system. So of course, I figured it was a double yolker. I tell you, stress can do strange things to your mind.
