i never use that styptic powder, its always flour or now de. you use it just the same mostly you do not have to worry about chicken nails but sometimes you do. i posted a while back on this thread how to take care of them with a dremel, i would type it all again but i do not have the energy for that right now so you can look back if you want red too funny! those onions are great

Lisa, there was some delay in getting the paperwork turned in on the truck. Now we're just waiting for the insurance to get back to us. I hope it's quick, too. I keep finding trucks I'd like to check out, and then they get sold.

I think I need to reconfigure my whole chicken math thing. Ever since I came up with -3 chickens, it seems to have given me incentive to go and get more chicks. I can't believe my boyfriend only laughs when I tell him I got just one more. I'd have beaten myself by now (with paperclips, maybe)

How is the smoke looking today? It's finally started to get to me out here. My eyes were irritated all through yesterday, and I've had a headache for a few days, now. I can't imagine what a nightmare it is to have asthma with this garbage in the air.

Edit: Oh yes, and to those of you who got Delaware chicks from Birdguy - Anyone have any current pics?

I'm off to get one of my baby Icelandic for Cynthia before I forget.

Oh my!

It's bizarre but I just can't look away. Poor Rocco, he looses his hair, the women don't like him anymore and he has to move in to his own place. A sad, bald, lonely bachelor.

Next thing you know he will be drinking waaay too much and and watching an unreasonable amount of sports on TV. I wonder if it is itchy.

I was also cracking up at Happy's bald bachelor visual.


My dh was making fun of me a couple days ago because someone asked how many chickens I have, and I wasn't able to answer. With all of the recent shifting (sold 5, gave 2 to SIL, gave meanie to neighbor, bought 2 polish), I couldn't immediately remember. But, right now, I have 19. If I get any more boys than I already know of, that number will go down. But, I plan to keep everyone I have now unless one of my babies turns out to be a boy. Unfortunately, that really awesome super dark olive egg that hatched a yellow chick has got quite the comb, so I'm a little worried.

Very pretty Red!! That's kind of neat that your BSL has those speckles!! Mine is still laying semi-small eggs, but she laid another double-yolker yesterday again (that's the 2nd one in about a month_)

ok i feel dumb for asking this but hear it gos....... can you feed chickens wheat seed and if so what benefits dose it give them?
