Oh, how did this picture get in here?

I'm on the left, Jill (Hattie) on the right. We were looking RIGHT into the sun when Howard (TeeRex) took the pic. Oofda, that was bright!

Yes, I had you face the sun but it was because the previous picture left shadows across your faces and made it hard to see your pearly whites and beaming blues/browns/greens (eyes). By facing the sun, it removed all those shadows and allowed us the opportunity to let your faces be the center of attention rather than your shoes. :p

Red---the BSL that I have had don't have any white as chicks, but the brown neck on black looks similar, if that helps narrow it down....

Sasha LOVE those babies. Can't wait! Hattie Thank you!

Well, it finally happened..I posted this on fb. hoping that someone in our neighborhood would see it, because I know they put off those huge fireworks, and heard a lot of them going off last night.
We had a fire in the neighborhood. Right behind us is a real larger area with barns and dry dry grass/weeds. A neighbor of ours was on their way home, saw the flames in a tree, and stopped by another car that had stopped. They had already called 911. Crazy! There are homes right across the street from that plot of land. Just across the street. There was no wind last night, which is very unusual because we live down from a canyon. Thank goodness. The firetruck got it out before it started on the ground. It would have just taken off. The firework must have landed in the top or mid part of the tree. Thankful that someone saw it. It was night of course, when some are in bed..and some are out shooting off huge fireworks! Pretty sure we have banded those around here in this part of Spanish Fork.
We aren't doing any this year, at all. We have grandkids come over and we do small ones, but we aren't doing any this year. Maybe we will give it a go during the winter...New Years Eve. :))

Those polish babies are getting to me, I need to stop looking..I could so say yes to hatching some! Oh me oh my.

Cynthia, I saw that on facebook. So scary! I'm glad that it stopped before it got started. I can't believe how many huge fires we've had here; it's getting a little scary. I always had this dream of living in the foothills, but the last couple of weeks have really made me rethink that.

Isn't it funny how different chicken breeds can be contagious? I've been thinking that some nice black sex links sound nice because then there's no guessing on gender, and they're so pretty. But, I am DONE DONE DONE DONE hatching until I start doing the school hatches next year. Unless I win something fabulous.

Ack! Cynthia, that's scary! I'm glad they caught it so fast and put it out. I was walking the dog last night and saw bursts of color in the air not too far from where I live. I just had to shake my head. I can hear the justifications now: "But that won't happen with ME. I'm careful with my fireworks. We keep tight control of them."

Yeah, yeah. So you can really control an explosive once it's airborne, right? Or when the wind comes up of a sudden and catches a spark. Oops!

Sorry all, I'm grouchy today. I don't like heat, and careless people with fireworks is grinding on me. Grumble grumble......

YIkes Cynthia!! I hope people are careful!! It is so not worth someone's house or life for 5 minutes of entertainment!!

Red... I took some pics of my Delaware chicks today, just for you, I'll post them tonite, maybe that will help you feel better=)

has anyone seen that there is a new fire in alpine? makes me worried because i think the member elkmtn lives up there.... tons and tons of smoke and houses and a 3000 gallon propane tank is in its path.... why cant we ban fireworks this summer?!?! come on herbert pull the plug on them! makes me sick :(

Birdman, I saw on KSL that there was a fire in Alpine now. The smoke from it is all across the Wasatch front. You gotta be kidding me. I might just start walking around with a bucket of water in hand, and if I see anyone lighting fireworks, I'll run over and dump it on them. Maybe shout, "HOME INSURANCE!!"

Dalooras, you are awesome. Thanks for humoring a very grumpy person

Oh my gosh, all these fires are so scary! Cynthia, I'm glad you're OK! Waaaay too close for comfort! One of our mountains here in Cache valley (Millville canyon) was on fire on Sunday...still smoldering today. It's about 1-2 miles from our house, and we could see all the helicopters and such flying around with their dump buckets. It's unnerving.
