Utah!

Well with all the fires and smoke, I called my home insurance to confirm coverage for the fire and smoke damage and was suprised to find that while they cover all types of fire they only covder smoke damage caused by fire with in my home. So smoke damage from these wild fires is my problem to deal with and in this ecomony who can handle that cost. If srated by humand it would be agood idea to get the report and lawyer to sue for clean up cost to who ever stzarted the fire. So no fireworks this year please. On a brigther note looks like we have 2 of our bsl and or rsl laying , just waiting for the other bsl and the 2 ee to get with the picture. It is great to see result for my over year long project (research, plans, building coop, brooder, buying chick rasing them to go out side and now eggs)
I do want to thank everone here for all the help and encouragement. This has been and continues to bee a fun ride.

Birdman, I saw on KSL that there was a fire in Alpine now. The smoke from it is all across the Wasatch front. You gotta be kidding me. I might just start walking around with a bucket of water in hand, and if I see anyone lighting fireworks, I'll run over and dump it on them. Maybe shout, "HOME INSURANCE!!"

Dalooras, you are awesome. Thanks for humoring a very grumpy person

Oops!!

Hope you don't mind if I put up a couple more=)

Kind of a better view of how they're both feathering in... it's been fun to see how they change!!

The Blue Wheaten... amazing how similar they looked at first and how different they are now...

HAve a nice, safe 4th everyone!!!

Good luck with the fires!

I cant believe this. I look out my back window and all i can see is a mountain on fire and then i look out my front and all i see is people shooting fireworks into the sky. I don't know if i should grab a hose and sit out side all night or take the boat out to the lake and watch it all burn. PEOPLE PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE ITS A DROUGHT AND WE LIVE IN A DESERT.

All around me I hear the boom of fireworks. Glad I'm not the one only irritated over it.

I love your chickens, delarooshens.

Eep! We have fireworks going off in the neighborhood and it's got all my critters from the horse to the goats to the chickens to our Italian Greyhound in a tizzy. I'm kind of holding my breath, waiting to see where the fires will pop up next.

I love everyone's pictures from the last couple days! Daloorashens-I'd jump on your Ameraucana cockerel in a heartbeat if I could....he's gonna be GORGEOUS.

I spent a good part of today putting up shade netting for Sierra's (Ducklover700) ducks outside. All for the love and comfort of our critters. :) Then I helped T-rex dig post holes for a new fence for the chickens. I have been taking each chicken out of the coop in the morning and putting them in part of the pasture to free-range during the day, and the picking up each chicken to put them back in the coop at night. Now, I'll just have to open and shut a door!

We will be 6-ish hours away for a family reunion this weekend, and I've really been stressing about leaving our pets, but I've found the perfect critter caretaker! Our Bishop's family has every animal we do, except ducks, and they use to have them. So Shauna (also my VT) came over this evening to see our routines and get everything down pat. She likes to know every animal's name so she can talk to them and be friends with them while she's doing chores. :) I love that! (Another sap!)

Oh man, Southern Utah is so dry right now and last night people were going nuts with fireworks too.

Dalooras, loooooove the pictures! That Wheaten cockerel is gorgeous. It's so much fun to see everyone's babies growing, especially the Delawares

It's amazing to me how different everyone else's looked from mine, but at the same time, I can see similarities in how they're feathering out. I am starting to kick myself now for not getting a pullet from Birdguy. Or Lisa. Arg, blast you self control!!

ChickenDad, hooray for new layers! I'm anxiously waiting to see which of my girls will lay first. I guess they're taking their sweet time, heh. Are you getting many problems with smoke over there? I hadn't thought Magna was that bad
