Cynthia, that is so awesome that you surprised Lisa like that and Sasha for helping!!

Moriah... ah yes, it was you with the Leghorn EE's... I might be able to help you with your experiment... I was thinking of putting the Leghorn EE's in with the Ameracaunas and seeing what kinds of eggs THOSE chicks lay=) haha

Happy... aren't those orpingtons from birdguy pretty?? Such pretty birds, orpingtons... I bet they're super fluffy with that cochin cross!!

....

Lisa... looking at your pics... I bet my other one is a boy, too!! It is quite blue, like yours.... I can definitely tell the difference... we'll see what happens, maybe I'll put them both in the pen so I can get the blue/regular wheatens... Can't wait to meet you Sunday!!

so much talk of depression, i want to say i am sorry to all those that have lost people to that war. depression is something i have dealt with all my life and i also have a very long history of suicide. so i have been there and it sucks to feel that way. i think its great more people are talking about it now because there was a time not long ago it was not talked about. but anyway i am sorry for the loss of life and my thoughts go to the family. hopefully her kids will not ever step foot on that path
Bird-Man - I'm sorry that you've struggled with it too, and to that degree. It stinks. I know that animals brighten the day, and chickens antics make me smile. I hope you find those things that add light to your life, and that you have the energy to attend to them.

Its worth a try, right? Let me know which characteristics you think might be more blue-eggy - I'll set them aside for you.

Lisa, forgot to welcome you back. Your trip sounds like a lot of fun, though I have to admit I missed you. Sorry about the parking ticket. Ugh.

On my polish, I'm not sure if they have beards or if they're just regrowing plucked feathers. I have no idea if they're pullets or cockerels, but lucky for me, I'm feeling very patient. If one is a rooster, it's this one, though I don't know.
Ok, so I am looking at the black feathers growing down from below the base of the beak.......Compare that to the base of the beak in my Elvis' picture, my avatar. I say bearded.

Joybells, still catching up here....saw you posted Lola's pics :) She should definitely be a she. Has the Orpington laid yet? Stinker!
Here is Lucy, Lola's sister :)

Her speckles are going away, now more around the neck and she has black coming in on the tips of her tail. She is a sweetheart :)

Moriah--so sorry about your friend.....and Birdman....glad you are coping with your depression and we have you as a friend here :) Our family has dealt with a recent suicide as well and it is really really tough. I wish we could have done something to prevent it, we just did not see it coming at all. I so wish we could go back in time knowing what we know now! Try to keep your smiles on :) They look good on ya. ;)

Cynthia, I love my new girl. LOVE HER. I can't get anything done, I just keep holding her. She is so calm and sweet.
:p Now I know why you love these so much!

MoriahQuilts-I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for the loss of your friend. I think there's more of us that struggle with depression than anybody really knows. It's a sign of the times, I think.

Cynthia & Lisa-we did good, huh? Howard always says I can't keep a secret, but we sure surprised Lisa tonight with that beautiful showgirl! She was SUCH a good baby while she was here. Not a peep out of her, super friendly and fun to look at! Howard had asked me earlier today "What if Lisa doesn't want it?" I told him "Then I'm going to keep her!" LOL! And as we were visiting with Lisa, the subject came up of chickens she did NOT want at this time....Silkies being one of them. Howard and I gave each other "the look". We said, "well, we have something to show you". Haha! As soon as Lisa saw the showgirl and we told her Cynthia sent her back special for her, she was instantly in love.

I should have had my camera ready-the look of shock on her face was PRICELESS!

Ah, and yes. Yes, I did take Lisa's frizzle Polish roo.
he.gif
I just couldn't resist! He is SO stinking cute. So now I have a beautiful (smooth) cuckoo white crested polish roo who needs a new home. Lisa said she's willing to take him with her this weekend to Idaho if anybody wants him between Logan and Idaho Falls. He's going to be quite the looker. I'll take/post pictures tomorrow of him. He's a pretty wussy roo-not 100% he is a roo, maybe 80% sure.
roll.png
He gets along great with my Bantam Wyandotte roo, haven't seen an ounce of meanness in him. He is a baby from Auntie Hattie. I think about 6 weeks old.

Oh, and Lisa! All those pictures of the Seattle area were fun! We lived there for 2 years, courtesy of the US gov't. Seeing those pics brought back memories. :)

Sphinx, before I forget (again)....pretty sure your gold laced polish are bearded, so no wattles. Makes sexing them fun! Ha ha

Hurry up and wait.
you know what? I read that she didn't want any silkies, the very night you were going to give her the showgirl..all I could think was, well, it isn't a silkie, it's a showgirl. he he...and I had to remember that she had said, if any of those three hatched, she would want one, so, I wasn't too worried. Just a bit. But this one is so pretty.
Now, I have a white silkie I need to place. She is a silkie, not a showgirl. They are pretty, the whites.
Sasha, this isn't the white you saw out there the other day, I am keeping that one unless she decides to crow. Better not!
