NO FREAKIN WAY! haha That one looked like a boy for sure, just like Sven, exactly.....dang birds just can't be certain.....I bet she will trade ya back...... :/

Sphinx, my lav is small too still, but in the last wek or two seems to have grown some. She seemed bigger when I got from vacation, a lot bigger, funny huh! Still not caught up to the others though. She is pretty red, and squatting.....and today nest surfing pretty hard. The Australorp is still sitting there, getting picked on. She is panting like crazy, it is hot in there.

Daloorashens, Sasha I think the birds I got from Bonnie are about 5 1/2 months old, born end of January.....so 24 ish weeks old.....I have one who is really red and looking more ready, the one with the crooked toes. The other one is just behind her i think. They have gotten big and fluffy. For some reason I think I will get eggs from some of the others first

Oh man, My Australorp is FIRED. Look at this egg she laid. it is smaller than my bantam eggs were. Sure hope this is a fart egg for her LOL!

Boy. ) I can see your polish is a boy, I was teasing. I wish, I wish, I wish, I could have roos..he is just too cute! So is this little guy. Is he crowing yet..either one? BTW, bantam cochins were one of my most fav. bantams, now I go ennie meenie, miny moe..or however you spell that, between the bantam cochin and the silkies. They are both the sweetest out of all the bantams I've tried.

I shoulda known you were teasing. My brain has been on overload the last couple days...maybe it's time for me to reboot. I'm very seriously considering doing all bantams next year, and starting a breeding program with bantam Wyandottes and bantam Ameraucanas. Of course, the bantam Polish are here to stay, as well. Howard wants to breed those. It'll take about 3 eggs from a banty to equal a LF egg, but that just gives me an excuse to get lots and LOTS of banties!

Ahhh, that's just how my luck goes. Too funny. The two boys are doing very well, though

Sven (the whitish chipmunk chick) is getting a little more flighty, but he's still a good boy. Gunther, the darker chick, is definitely my favorite of the two. He's smart and feisty, but a little more mellow than he was as a baby. It used to be Sven that fell asleep in my hand at the drop of a hat. Now, they'll both cuddle when I'm carrying them in my arms, but Gunther is the one that dozes off almost instantly! I love my boys, even if Sven gives me the runaround every time I have to catch them for the night

Sundancen, somehow I missed the post where you lost a chicken. I'm so sorry!

Well, after some consideration, I have decided that I'll try moving two of my pullets out to Tooele to give my Marans some company. I was going to take a couple of pullets from Sundancen (thanks, Sundancen!) but I figured I ought to try this, first, and see how it goes. I'll be moving my BO and my GLW, who are by far the crabbiest girls to the younger chicks. As soon as I've moved them and upset the pecking order, I think I'll try to put Stevie and his group in that run with them and see if chaos still reigns. If all goes well there, then I can shuffle the remaining chicks around and upgrade living quarters, so to speak, so that I have the brooder free for Lisa's BR chickies. Ohhh boy, this is going to be a long weekend, I can tell. I'm going to miss my two girls, though. I really wanted to keep them here until they started laying. I'm keeping them penned in the run for a while when they go out to Tooele - I would go ballistic if that stupid raccoon showed up again and took one or more of them.

We finally heard back from the insurance on the truck. They're giving us a couple thousand less than what we originally paid for the truck (

) but at least we're getting as much as we did. This will just barely pay off the loan we had for it, which means we can hopefully qualify for another loan and get a replacement truck, ASAP. I want to fight for a higher reimbursement amount, but I don't know if it would do any good at this point, especially since we've had to wait this long and we really need another economic set of wheels (the boyfriend drives an older dually - not too gas efficient) We've found a truck in good shape that we want to get, so I'm really hoping that it's still there by the time we can get the money in order for it. Okay, that's all for my non-chicken report for today, I promise.

Oop! Forgot to say - Lisa, your BA's egg is sure pretty! It looks so glossy and smooth. I'll bet the eggs get bigger as time goes on.

I sure wish they were giving you more for your truck. Wouldn't hurt to try? Ya never know. But at least you know now what the smallest amount is that you will get and have something to work with. What a pain in the butt, I would still nail that kid for your other expenses and being a royal pain in the arse.

The BR are doing really good, happy little campers. Going to try to bring them up one night next week, I have been way too busy this week. Does Tue work for you? I might bring my daughter with and try to get a little school shopping done while we are there, maybe we can meet near one of the stores down there. Without my navigation sidekick Wendy I cannot find anything there, let alone your house again haha!

Lisa, we found out we can get Restitution so that the kid will be responsible for anything the insurance doesn't cover - the tools, extra fees, whatever. The only problem is, I don't know if he will ever pay it

Man, what a nightmare. I will message you on the BR's, and we'll get that figured out.

Red, I'd try fighting it. Does the price they're offering line up with current value on the truck? If it seems low, I'd definitely fight it. As far as restitution, I wouldn't hold your breath. Remember when my back window was shot out by those kids? I actually filed everything with the courts. I didn't expect restitution, but I wanted to do my part to make the court aware of my actual costs. (to have everything replaced that they damaged was close to $1,000). It's been months and months, and they still haven't even been sentenced, let alone assigned anything for restitution. If I see a penny in restitution, I'll be shocked.

Hoping to sell a couple of my hens tonite, that'll make room for the growing fast pullets!! BUT ARGH!! One of those cockerels crowed yesterday.. fortunately, not loud, and I didn't hear him today, but STILL, I have to find a home for him if he does that, not supposed to have roosters here, and we the expansion is slow going at Mom's place, mostly because of the hear, might not get it done till it decides to cool off... so, maybe birdguy can rent me out a cockerel pen at his place

till they're big enough for freezer camp, if no one bites my ads......
