Burbs----So move to Logan, work at USU, and I will babysit

I am a licensed preschool teacher and have daycare lol! And you can have loads of chickens with few rules

And we have LOADS of fun at my house. Cutest kids on the planet here.
Sundance, hope that kitty perks up! Blujems, congrats on the egg! Looks like yours is looking smallish too......I got the second one from my BA this morning, and it is even smaller than the first one

None of mine have started out that small, so not sure what to think. I have three more new girls currently sitting in nests, my expectations are getting high for new layers this week

Cynthia, love that pic, look like little smiling frog faces lol!
Things in the big coop are chaotic......with new guys sitting in the nests.....so I made three next boxes in my little coop this morning, a pic follows. My BA went right in there and did her business without being hassled so it will work out great, I just do not have the spycam in the little coop so we won't see who is laying, will have to watch close.
Check these out, I did it all by myself while DH was at work, I even dared to use the saw without losing fingers (I am severely accident prone so at my house there are many jokes about keeping me away from ladders and sharp objects....)

Cute huh!

wow awsome

One of my baby chicks was born with a prolpsed vent. It was very hard to see, All its intestines were born on the outside. I put thre chick to sleep, hated to but was necessary as it was suffering. On the brighter side I sold 4 Araucanas and a sizzle. Including the roo! Hurray!! The sizzle that has spraddle leg started having problems again so I tied its legs back together and put it back in the house in my covered aquarium. I think it may have broken its wing so I I am going to splint its wing. Its official I am not going to Reno after all. With my bronchitis being so bad and having to tube feed a kitten I decided I was being told to stay home. Darn not going cost me a bunch of money on well

Here are pictures of Purree and her babies. She is called Purree because she purrs non stop. I will miss her as she is a really good mom The kitten with the spot on it head first picture far left

Awwww sundance, so sweet those pics. The hairless thing kind of blows my mind, they look like little piglets lol :p I am glad you posted those, never seen sphynx kittens!

That is too bad you will miss Reno! And sorry to hear you had to put down a chick. I had one whose umbilical area never closed and slowly everything came out as it peeped.....we had to put it down, made me so sad. I just wished I could tape it shut and hope but the chick was so persistent on peeping and it just kept coming....awful :( Glad you were able to do the deed though, it has to be done. Do you have any araucana chicks left or did you sell them?

Sundancen, cute kitties! That momma cat looks very sweet. Take it easy and tell that bronchitis to hit the road, okay?

Lisa, nice job on the next boxes! You're making me jealous. The ones I'm building are pretty podunk and...........not pretty. You know what? I was thinking about the small egg thing, and I wonder if part of it is the heat. My Marans has been laying smaller eggs than normal in this heat wave. I honestly can't blame her. If I was a hen, I'd be on strike

Well, the Great Chicken Shuffle, July edition, has gone well so far! I moved my BO and GLW out to Tooele to cheer up my Marans, and she sure was a lot chattier when I left. I think she's much happier to have some female company. She put both of the pullets in their place, too, even with one gimpy leg. Of course, the boys wasted no time stalking up and down the fence and drooling. It was kind of funny. Reminded me of something from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. "Hey, look! Girls!" Too bad for them, though. These girls are still too young to have boyfriends. They'll have to settle for peering through the fence. I moved Steve and his group in with the three remaining big girls, and so far everyone seems to be okay. The smaller ones aren't as afraid now without the BO or GLW policing them. Let's hope it stays that way.

Oh, I would love to live in Cache Valley. I do think the U of U has a better program for mental health, but Cache Valley...

Sundance, sweet mama and her babies. I've never actually seen a Sphinx cat in real life. I'm going to have to arrange to meet you someday so I can see your babies. I'm sorry that you had to put a chick down. I think you did the right thing; it's too bad what is right isn't always easy. Sorry about the Reno trip; too bad you didn't have someone to go in your place.

Lisa, great job on the nesting boxes! Generally speaking, I'm not at all accident prone, but after I badly cut my thumb with the saws all, my dh is funny about "letting" me use it.

Red, glad the chicken shuffle was successful.

We got the chicken netting in the mail today, so tonight we're going to try and get it up over the new enclosure. I'm a little nervous, it's 25x40 or something like that, which sounds like a recipe for a disaster of a tangle. I definitely need it though- I see birds of prey almost every day, and there's skunks and raccoons and dogs around.

I do have a few Aracanas left. One of the older 4 week olds and two that hatched today. I also have the black one I bought from Cindy in the spring. I am going to show her at the fair. Plus some more eggs may hatch although no pips that I can see. Still no pips in that big brown egg, Dang I really wanted that to hatch. I had a couple of the olive eggers hatch Really pretty chicks

ok I think I'm obsessed with that brown egg. I have some Begian DUncle Mille fleur eggs coming that didn't make it to me for this hatch so she mailed them yesterday. Does anyone have those Big brown eggs that are fertiles. The ones that look like the egg below. They are Marin of some sort. I'd love to find a few local eggs so I can hatch a big brown beautiful egg just like this one. Granted Today is hatch day but big egg has no sound inside and no pips
