Utah!

Red, sorry the processing didn't go smoothly. I think it takes some trial and error to get it right. I'm sure you'll get better with practice.
LOve the crazy eggs. I always took pictures of my goofy eggs. This batch of chickens hasn't done anything interesting yet.
Substance, please take it easy. I worry that you're too hard on yourself and are prolonging your recovery.
I'm in Zion Nat'l park til saturday. If anyone wants me to be a chicken train to northern Utah, I'm willing!

Thanks for caring. I have been planted on the couch on my Oxygen resting. I wish you were going to be around tomorrow. Who else lives up there? Does anyone need a lift for a chickee. I just came in after checking out the chicks. They were all huddled on the grass in the shade. One little Araucuna was running up and down the ramp into the coop part. I could almost hear her saying Yipee,

So, Sphinx could stop by! Here is a picture of the large blue A. Pure.

I have blue, black, and maybe chipmunks hatching now..action is starting. I'm so excited. Haven't hatched in a while, you would think it was the first time. So, if anyone wants a pretty little EE chick for cheep, cheep, let me know. 10 for the big girl..looking like a girl..I am not one to go by tails on those Ameraucanas any more..this one is looking so much like my black Cleo that is in some of the pictures.
So, only 5 dollars for a baby chick, which will be a few days by then. I can have pictures up of the babies before Shinx comes by..if anyone wants that big blue girl. She's just starting to turn pink, another good sign that it's a girl.

Barely pink

A picture of her with some of the big girls..except the Exchequer..to show the size of her.

Pretty puffy!

Dark neck, lighter body. A lot like my blue girl I had in the past, I think this one
is a little darker. And, bigger. :)

Here is a picture of the youngins. I just put them in with the big girls..clipped their wings
The blue one in this picture is an EE that came from a green egg..the color I'm looking
for. I was trying to get a picture of the two wheatons together so you could see the size
difference.

The two wheatons, the one in the back is the one I kept, the one up front is the one I got
back, the EE is in the middle, and the blue A. is the large one.

Big blue A. Wheatons, white EE mix, and little blue EE. One of the Wheatons is for sale!
I do believe Dalooras wants one.
Brad, that white stuff is DE! I have had a bit of good luck with it so far. Going to check out that site you linked for us.

I'm having fun catching up on all of the posts. Way to many to comment on! Love all the eggs! Weird ones and pretty ones and all the beautiful bird photos. Laughed at the camping rooster and dropping the beautiful blue egg! I would so do that and the chicken training video made me feel I was not as weird as I could be with chickens. Ha! So now I will just add mine.

Today I came home and went out to see my chickens and right in front of me on a rock was that stupid hawk that keeps coming back to visit us. I pretty much freaked out because he was about 10 feet from where my chicken fence is. I told my dog to go get him so she took off running and scared it up into a tree in our yard. I started walking closer and saw feathers on the grass so I started to yell for my DH to come because I didn't think I could bare to look and see which one of my chickens it was. He came out and went and checked and said it was one of our doves that we have living in our palm trees. Two of them had nested in our tree. So sad about that. I'm so happy it wasn't one of my chickens. Dang hawk is back!!! Now the worrying begins again. Does anyone else have to deal with hawks? Dumb question I'm sure.

I'm hoping he didn't see my chickens.

So sad.

Oh my goodness auntie! I would have yelling for my hubby too. No way I would have wanted to find one of my girls.
You have Silkies right? Interested in a real handsome Partridge boy? Or can you have roos?

His darker colors are coming in, he still has a lot of pin feathers on the head coming in.

auntie, you need to get that hawk outta there! Wonder how you go about catching a hawk?

It is yellow! It came from a blue egg.

Maybe there are stripes that I can't see yet..it is the one that pipped at the wrong end yesterday. They are due to hatch tomorrow. I will have more hatch tonight, I can tell.

for hawks i would run string or fishing line from different high points across your yard to make it hard for him to get to the ground. i would also hang stuff like wind chimes up or mirrors so it will help scare him off and will make noise if he were to hit them.

Lisa-hope you're having a safe and fun trip! Still up for a BBQ soon?
Sundancen-I live in the Logan area (Hyrum) but I'm not needing anything shuttled at the moment. Thanks, though! I'd say stop by for a visit, but we'll be in Ogden & Hill AFB tomorrow for some business. :)
Red-I'm so sorry the processing didn't go as planned. Glad your BF was there to help.

Bird Guy-Funny looking eggs! Love the pictures. :)
Cynthia-What a pretty blue Amer. I'm so loving the colors on your teenage Wheatens, too. Congrats on the first egg to hatch, hope it continues to go well!
Happy-That's awesome. :) You can clicker train ANYTHING.
Kimmy-I'd totally rehome that BLRW. Grr.
Auntie H-I'm so sorry you have a naughty hawk giving you heart palpitations! Sorry about the dove. I've also heard hanging old CD's up around the yard (or garden) will discourage them. I just saw a falcon flying around our general vicinity today...Kept my eye on it for a long time, til it flew away. We have bird netting up over the ducks, but not the chickens-yet.
Shinx-have a GREAT trip to Zion's!

Now this idea is great. Fish line would work, may also discourage the doves from coming around. They are really bad around here. Telling my hubby as I type.

Thinking this baby will be interesting to watch grow..those wing, neck, and tail feathers will change into some color I'm sure.

Hey Sasha... how are ya??

I will have more babies tonight. :) Big eggs, big babies.
