Well we took the Blue Breasted Red Old English and Fredrick the Blue Wheaten Ameraucana into the fair this morning. I might be a little jaded, but I thought they were the prettiest there.

Alright Lisa...need to know something..this is funny, but not if it's a roo. It is going to be 100 degree outside today, and up in the 90's all week, so I put my babies outside in that area that Scott just made at the end of the coop. The little black EE's that I have left were scared,,but not that Polish! The older Red Sex link..still little but older, came up, the stink eye went on, the red pecked just a little at the polish's beak, and by golly, that Polish stood up on those little stick legs and pecked right back! And it wasn't a little peck. I had to laugh, but had to wonder, boy? Or do all Polish have this attitude. I was planning on putting them in with my Silkies when they got older.
I went in for a while, Then went out to see how they were doing. The EE's were back in a corner, and the Polish was standing right there, still trading stink eye with the others. I also have an older black EE pullet in there, and a little splash EE baby. I put them all back in the Nursery at night with a light, because it is down into the 60's here at night. I see that the older ones will stay just outside of the light, but I know that these new ones will want to be under it for a few days.
Anyway, I hope I get a sweet Polish or two out of the ones I'm getting. I don't think this one is going to be a sweetheart. Little stink, funny now, but not sure about the future. If it is a boy, understandable attitude. LOL...It's the barred one.
Good luck to you guys with birds at the fairs... haven't seen whittni to know how she did??
Sundance, how many birds do you have, anyway?? You keep saying, oh, I have one of those, and one of those, so now I'm thinking you must have A LOT!! LOL!
Cool birds, Cynthia, those polish really do come in some amazing colors... Somebody else said, though that it bugs them not to see the eyes, I think I feel the same way, but still, very pretty birds!
Lisa, that's great you're getting so many eggs now!! Hopefully you have lots of people to sell to, I have a couple of regulars, which helps keep the egg supply in the fridge manageable=)
My husband made me get a concealed weapons permit several years ago... I used to carry my gun all the time, too, but now that I have small children, it's been put in the safe. Haven't been shooting for a long time either, since I've either been pregnant or nursing the past few years (seems like it anyway=) Once baby is a little bigger, it would be good to go do some target shooting again... DH has a variety, my gun is a Sig, I really like it, not too heavy and easy to shoot...
Red, can't wait to hear what happens with your job interview!!
$.99 chicks at CAL Ranch?? ACK! Better not venture over that way anytime soon=)
My girls have slowed down again since it has heated back up, I've been putting the frozen water bottles in the nest boxes, it seems to help them not pant soo much...
Where do you get DE from?? I need to get some... My girls are looking good (health wise), and the flies haven't been bad at all, but I'd still like to start using it...
I took my BO out this morning while I was working in the garden... I was trimming the peas back and she figured out pretty quick that lots of bugs were hiding under there... She was a great helper out there, actually, she's still out, hiding in the corn.. perfect place since that's where the grasshoppers usually are... She already laid her egg today, otherwise she would be pacing outside the run, lol!
Don't laugh if I tell you I have no idea how many birds I have, My chicken math is such that if I don't count them I don't have too many. I am selling quite a few chicks just now so I don't count them either,
Red how did the interview go?
