Yes, we had mice getting into our plastic bins. I can see it happening in the shaving too...they would love to nest in that.
Maybe you can cover the cans when outside, with a tarp? Big black trash bag that has been cut open to fit? Something that will cover it pretty good. Mine aren't out, but I wonder if that would be a problem. People used to use those to take their trash out. That's what we used..you youngins! And yes, I remember them getting rusty on the outside. If they get old, they rust through. That would take a while though.

Thanks for the thoughts. I can't decide, plastic or metal. hmmm. I should just put them inside the run, it has a roof. If I did not have my chickens jammed in there like sardines I would not have to worry about using any of the precious space in there

Aunt Hattie, you have no idea how badly I want to take one of those Icelandic chicks. I want to get another female so that I have two breeding pairs, or even a trio. Unfortunately, I'm past my preferred limit on chickens and must go down before I can get more. Phooey. And I loved your sample picture for Cynthia!

Anything else... I'll try and check tomorrow... Been working and we'll be in Ogden Thursday til Saturday morning for a wedding... Wonder if there's a way to get that pullet from you Cynthia?? And if happy didn't call dibs, that pullet from you sundance?? DH has some work to do while we're there, so my transportation will be somewhat limited... but, maybe we can figure something out?? We often go to Layton/Kaysville while we're there.. so it wouldn't be hard to get to Bountiful if we did that.... what do you girls think??

Also....I have an online class for work I have to get done in this next week, also, and pretty much the online time I have to do it is at night when kiddos are sleeping, so I'll look tomorrow, but then won't have much of a chance... Cynthia and Sundance.. PM me if you think there's a way we can hook up and I can get those pullets from you.....
