Utah!

Have to share... We made homemade icecream with our goats milk and fresh eggs... one batch of vanilla and one of coconut... Dang but it was good!!

Awww. That was mean, Shawn. Now I'm sitting here dying because I can't have any homemade ice cream! And with super fresh ingredients, too.

Michelle, I like your updates to your page! You are taunting, ya hear me, TAUNTING us with Dec and Jan chicks.

LOL....yes, well I need to hatch some eggs for myself so it won't be any trouble to add more if anybody wants early chicks. The earlier the bird the sooner they lay!

Any Utah folks with a poultry related webpage? I'm updating my page for the new year. If you would like to link share, please let me know. I can display text links or a small banner. I'm also accepting site suggestions. A link to BYC will be on there, of course.

I have exactly one extra ameraucana egg today, everybody laid, then there is one more....and this girl was in and out of the nests earlier this morning, so pretty sure it was her. Now she is out there rolling around in the dirt. Anybody else get eggs from theirs yet? Any day! woo hoo!
Mine has been laying for a couple weeks....Mine was one you hatched.
Now she is buds with yours...They are very cute together. she is finally happy!

That is one thing I have wanted to do, just haven't done it yet. That is awesome!

Pictures of the Black Crested Polish a friend got from me, and, a buff lace polish that has a crooked beak!

Turned out with less black on the body than I thought.

She says this bird follows her everywhere, yep, saw it following her around the whole time I was there. :)
Very sweet.

This one followed her around too. Her young son holds it all the time.

Now that's a frizzle! From a young gal in Richfield area

Cynthia, that frizzle is awfully cute. I need to get a new picture of mine that I got from Diana. She is turning out soooo beautiful.

My silkie is also gorgeous, but I'm worried it may be a boy. Hard to say.

Pawtraitart, I may end up buying some marans hatching eggs from you. I need more hens that lay chocolate brown eggs. No other egg color makes my heart go pitty pat like those dark brown eggs.

I did get a gorgeous egg from Shirley today. Shirley was the egg I grabbed out of someone's eating egg basket. Sure glad I hatched her!

thanks for helping Lisa, Shawn, and YUMMY icecream!!!!!!!!mmmmmmmm

My Genesis came today!!!!!!!

Fortunately, my aversion to having chicks in the house is very strong, or I would put eggs in it TODAY (well, after a couple of days of watching the temp, but then it would be fair game, haha) So now I will just watch the temp and humidity in the place I am going to put it for a good month before I put eggs in it... then, bring on 2013 hatching!!!!!

LOVE the egg Sphinx!!! The spots are so pretty!! Makes me want to get a Welsummer, haha

and CUTE chick madchicken, YAY!!

Lisa, no eggs from mine yet, but mine seem to be laying after yours, I'm sure it has a lot to do with moving them (they are at my mom's) and I only run the lights on daylight hours, since their pens are dark without the added light..

My BO sleeps in a next box also, but, amazingly, doesn't get it too dirty... She's about 2 years old, and sometimes she had a hard time getting up on the roost anyway, so she must be getting old, fat AND lazy, she's lucky she's the boy's favorite, or CURTAINS it would be for her, haha

got home tonight and checked to see if another chick had hatched. one did hatch but didn't make it. I think it might have got out from under the hen and got to cold. It hadn't dried out all the way when i found it. I hope this is what happened. I increased the temp in the coop to try to help. As long as they hatch during the day it will be around 75-85 degree in the coop. ( don't worry mama has lots of water) If they hatch at night its still going to be 40-50 degree. The last two hatched during the day. There is still four more eggs under her. She added 1 egg a day until i figured out she was hoarding eggs. Like i said in the beginning, this will be a learning experience.
