I introduced my young roo, Lincoln, to my flock of 6 girls who are all now approximately 8 moths old back in November. Since then, one of my top girls and resident bully, Georgia, has made it her primary responsibility to make his life miserable. I've seen her chase him away from food, water & treats, flog him, and jump on his back and latch on to his neck. She'll basically follow him around all day making sure he's not having too much fun. The other night at bed time, he was on one end of the roost and she was on the other. Georgia crawled under the other girls to get to him while he stuck his head in the corner trying to hide from her. She began pecking him relentlessly and grabbed his comb while he yelped. He managed to get around her and ran behind the girls that were laying down, knocking them off the roost. Every night I make sure they're at oppostite ends of the roost but Georgia always seems to get at him. I've got multiple feeders and water dishes, and this weekend I'm going to buld a second roost. I'll admit, Lincoln is a big wuss, but he takes care of his girls. I know he mates with Georgia. At first I figured she was out to get him because she didn't like him mating with her. Since she's a dominant pullet, does she sense that he has a weaker personality, so she treats him like he's part of the pecking order mix? Does anyone else have this problem? This display is so pathetic, because he's almost twice her size. I'd love for him to "man up" and give her a good peck to put her in her place.
