OK, after many days and phone calls and worrying, I have us confirmed for the BOLIVAR NATURE PARK in Bolivar, right next to Harpers Ferry. We'll need to park at the Comfort Inn across the street and walk to the park...I'll get a map ready and post it soon.
Since I am closest, I will bring our propane grill we can share.
If anyone wants to bring their own for special preferences (charcoal vs propane) that's cool too!
I have been sweating this out, cuz the Bolivar Visitor Center kept insisting there was "NO Grilling" allowed. So I thought we'd have to either go back to just pot luck. Well, then they told me we couldn't reserve the gazebo/pavilion they have there, it was first-come first-serve!
I called the Parks and Rec service to see if I could reserve a pavillion at Sam Michaels park (further away from HF, by 7 miles or so). She (being the second in command with Parks and Rec) said forget what the Visitors Center said, the Parks and Recs runs it, and no grilling meant that there were no grills available, but we can bring our own.
What's more, she is putting my name down on the schedule for the gazebo, in essence reserving it for us on the 16th. She'll send a maintenance crew down the day before to clean it up for us!
