Vacation and Duck Care Pay

Hi All,
I am going to be gone for a week and need someone to watch my six runners. I will be trying my best to find someone who can come in the morning to let them into their cage to roam. They will have to give them water and food. Then I'll ask them to come back in the evening prior to dark and just put them away with water.

What would you pay someone daily for something like this? I don't know where i'm going to find someone.

Ten dollars a trip

Not being able to do things comes with the territory when having animals sometimes. We can always do what we want

An alternative is to pair with another duck keeper [of chicken keeper] and look after their flock when they go away and they look after your flock when you go away.

I am in Florida and have paid $10 a day for the twice daily visits you describe. I have also had a neighbor who did it for 2 weeks as a favor. I once advertised on social media for a pet sitter -- there are plenty of pet sitters around -- but the one person who came forward didn't want to look after ducks just cats or dogs.

Now I have friends who look after my ducks for short periods [up to 2 weeks] and I look after their pets [a bunny, a turtle, and fish, when they are away. They also helped me demolish my old duck coop and build a new one so that I could get it done in one day, as the new one had to go on the site of the old one. I give them half a dozen duck eggs when my son has plenty!

they ask 25 a trip here. for my ducks, geese, and chickens, who each have separate areas and separate coops. so yah it’s a bit of work. but 50 per day adds up fast.
i found 3 or 4 people who were willing on facebook in my local chickens group

I pay $20 a day, but that's just one trip. My set ups are much different than most so that's why I only need one trip per day.

I also pay $20 per day for one trip. I have only 3 hens, and it only takes the sitter about 30 minutes per trip. Figure out how much time it will take them and go from there.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to see if $20 a day will work. Two visits a day and each visit will be less than ten minutes but she has to drive 12 minutes to get here.
