vaccinations for pigeons? another update

Well oneo of the ones that mary linked me to said you can use aeromycin. I just want to know if it really works. Both sites sell it. One thing I have noticed is they have picked up some weight. I did have them on regular pigeon feed, but switched to scratch grain. They started to gain weight on it. Plus I have given them and my rabbits a round of powdered albon for coccidiostat too. They seem to be eating it better, and wasting less of it anyhow.

I went ahead and ordered some baytril for them. Can always use the extras anyhow since i also have rabbits.

Also want to ask you guys your opinion on this guy? ive been down to one archangel cock for a year now, since my best breeding bird died last winter. I am hoping to win him. He'll be isolated from the rest until I can get them their vaccinations. I love his color! I wonder what this would produce when bred to the black winged/bronze color?

Also, woul dit be wise to fill out pedigrees on my birds? I didn't know you could do that with pigeons. I saw them on the websites mary provided, and they look just like the rabbit pedigrees I have. So working bird pedigrees wouldn't be a problem.

i would not feed sratch to pigeons can cause another problem stick with pigeon feed at least a 16% protein for breeding and showing . one last question if you keep your birds seperate do all your birds have the same problems not hatching if so find the common thing they all come into contact with and get it cleaned very good another thing do you have a rodent problem they are carriers of many diaeases i think the color is nice and it would be a on going color project find the website for the american archangle club get in contact with them they can really help you if starting with the archangles

No rodents can get into my barn. Its amish built one. So nothing else can get in. No holes or evidence of them anyhow.

I haven't had much luck with pigeon feed. Pellets, nor grain. they don't seem to like it, and waste half of it. I read in anoher thread on here where some of the pigeon breeders were feeding scratch grains. I got to looking at it, and its basically the same thing minus the peas, and whole corn. They seem to be doing very good on it. Yep al the birds are in seperate cages, and all have the same problems with hatching. The cages and barn are kept clean. The house pigeons are in a wire grid one. the angels are in a solid floored dog cage.

yeah the reason why I want him is because of the color. I know a couple of archangel breeders that go to regular pigen shows. one guy shows rabbits with me. I can ask him about breeding colors the next time I catch him at a show.
