Hi BYC'ers:
I received some vaccine I ordered today (For Fowl Pox and Newcastle/Bronchitis vaccine) and I have a question regarding storage. The information that came with the packaging just says to "refrigerate immediately upon receiving."
I plan on giving the Newcastle/Bronchitis Vaccine in about 2 1/2 weeks. The Poxine (for fowl pox) I believe is for when the chicks are 8 weeks old... which will be in a little more than 8 weeks (The chicks aren't hatched yet... they are supposed to hatch and be shipped this weekend).
I placed it in my fridge (making sure its set as cold as possible, but staying above freezing.).
Is this ok? If it does freeze (30 degrees or so) would that hurt the vaccine? I currently have the vaccine in the door, but since at least the Poxine will be in the fridge for 2 months, I want it to be safe in the fridge.
I assume the liquid used to dilute the vaccine is sterile water (so must stay above freezine). The vaccines themselves are "dry" in their own bottles.
Any advice would be appreciated (this is my first time handling Vaccine).
Thanks,
Matthew Friend
