All the shows on tv this morning have featured alot of stuff about Valentine Day. I though it might be helpful if guys had an idea of what presents they should avoid giving. Far to often a gift can be given with the best of intentions but due to the sometimes unfathomable feminine mystique.

Gifts to avoid

1- Exercise clothing, cds, etc. Might be taken as a suggestion that you are dissatisfied with her weight
2- Guns unless ammo is given at a later date
3- Cleaning supplies

What's wrong with getting a gun for Valentine's Day? I would be thrilled. For Valentine's Day we are going to go see the Lipazzaner Stallions.

I'd love either guns, ammo or clips for the various toys I have.. any of those would be acceptable to me

Another couple of suggestions: If there's been any issue about your partner's cooking anytime in the past avoid giving cookbooks. Porn is not usually a good gift choice. Chickens are always a good choice.

Avoid NOT giving her anything! My husband is bad about that...and that's also my birthday, so it's really annoying when he doesn't take the time!

I can testify that if you buy her a box of chocolates, it had better be more expensive then the one she bought you! I'm in the doghouse this valentines day.

That's good advice! Because if she did NOT want a gun for a present she could then load it with the handy ammo & shoot you where it hurts.

I would take getting a gun as a sign of his trust in me and acknowledging that I am the Boss

If he got me excercise clothes or sugar free confections, I would take that badly. Cleaning supplies? He'd not enjoy sleeping in the garage very much!

AVOID AT ALL COST:

Those cheesy HUGE valentine's day cards!
Lingerie...
Small appliances
Gifts that are for you, and you're passing off as a gift for her (LIKE A TV... AHEM)
No x-of-the-month gifts. That is such a cop-out. Think about the gift yourself.
Stuffed anything, unless it's food!

Here are things I'd LOVE to get (too bad my husband doesn't read this forum):

Flowers
Chocolates or treats (cake, cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries, cookie bouquet, etc!)
Dinner & a movie (either get take-out for home from her favorite place, or go to a nice restaurant)
BALLONS! They make it seem like you are making a big deal JUST FOR HER!

Look into her hobbies, things she likes to do. For me it'd be--
Camera equipment for my Nikon
Books
That new LED flashlight I want to candle eggs with 115 lumens that's about $30
A really nice incubator
A BOX FULL OF BABY CHICKS!
