I just couldn't do it.

Too much money for a poor Spook.
Be half that next week.

What were the prices in your areas?
Who else is living frugal this year? I gave
Barb a pack of seeds, took her to grow her
own flowers.

The evening didn't go as I had planned...

Spook, the frugal husband

No flowers on Valentine's day - endured a chick flick date - Senior citizen rate - $16. Special meal at 5 Guys Burgers - $14.75. Memories - priceless.

I got an orange tree (dwarf) two lemon trees (also dwarfs) and about twenty lily bulbs :D couldn't be happier lol I feel like I made out like a bandit hahaha

Norhing says love more than some cut dying flowers. I hate cut flowers. I rather get potted plants. That being said my husband brought me chocolate redwine and candy home. our daughters were happy they got blanket/pillow combos yesterday. today the pug got happy because he got a blanket at half price.

I love potted plants too. Something like thyme or rosemary.Even some mints. You touch them, and the room fills with their scent.

I don't like V day or Sweetest day.I would rather spend on my loved ones on other days than on these two.Something about being told THESE are the days to show love by buying cards, flowers, and candies....just wrong.

Maybe I'm easier to please - or desperate for any crumbs but, an early(before noon) movie is $ 6.00 at AMC here, and a meal at BK or Arbys is fine with me. I don't want flowers or plants because I hybridize streptocarpus house plants - same danger as bringing new chicks into a flock. Quarantine. Hate that. Actually I just love quiet time with a special person - even a $ 1. movie rental is fine.

My son just sent me a beautiful card with Snoopy on it and lots of love, etc. Saying it was Payback time, inside lots of love back to me. The kid is really getting good at picking cards,
