Valley Quail dying???

My valley quail are about 7 weeks old now. I haven't had any problems with them up untill now.

Last night I had 3 die in one cage and there are 2 that look puffy. By that I mean that all of there feathers are puffed out like someone filled them up with air.

Now I have another cage. and all of those quail are healthy and look fine.

What could be causing this???

I feed them gamebird food, that I grind up and they get fresh water everyday. Could they have some kind of cage flu, (pneumona?) I think that is what it is called.

What would cause birds in one cage to get so sick so fast, when they are all treated the same. If anyone could help me that would be great. Thank you

i have had the same thing happen to me this summer . i dont know why . i am also having the same problem with my bobwhites

I had two more die last night. Does anyone know what this is.

Poultrykeeper, did yours get all puffed out too?

My other cage looks great, no one is puffy and they all fly around. I just don't know what to do....

Listen to their lungs,just under one wing...do you hear crackles? If so they have a cold, use an antibiotic.

Will a cold make them die? How do they get colds when they are kept in the warmth and with out a draft?

What cuases this ? i hatched the eggs that i got from a friend and most of the chicks died off out of about 50 i have 6 left ! every thing was perfect always had fresh food and greens had heat and room to move around and get out of the heat . the chicks would jsut fall over dead .

Same with me. I have only lost 5 birds but they were compleatly healthy and about 7 weeks old. I thought that I was past the time to have to worry about them.

I have two cages that stack. The birds on the top are healty as can be. Could one of them be the carrier? There are trays that catch their droppings so they don't drop down from above. Can it be air borne because it is carried in their fecies?
