hey, guys! sorry I haven't been on in a while. I've had a weird couple of weeks.)

Firebird strolled down a grassy park, a bag of pencils under her left arm. Her long red hair swished around her waist, as she bent over the sketchpad, scribbling furiously. She let her feet take her wherever they pleased, memory preventing her from crashing into trees. She added a couple more pencil lines, whistling to herself. She meandered like this, drawing, for quite a while, then stopped suddenly. Somehow, without noticing it, She had walked into a dark ally without noticing. She backed up a couple steps cautiously. "Where am I?" She wondered. Then, the cobblestones beneath her feet imploded.
She got up on her knees, coughing. Dust obscured her veiw, but from what she could see, things were not good. She was in a very dark underground room. Water pipes crisscrossed across the ceiling, and cobwebs dangled from the walls. Above her, she could see the hole she had fallen in from about 8 feet up. She froze as she heard a footstep. and another. A rustle of cloth. A breath of air. Then, a pair of glowing red eyes. and another. and another. She had fallen into a nest of Vampires. 26 vampires surrounded her. Then one stepped forward, an evil smile playing about her lips. Firebird's eyes narrowed. "Elsewhere." She said, then cursed under her breath. Elsewhere tilted her head, and a slight smile played about her lips. "Firebird." She replied, her voice rippling as if from the bottom of a pond. Firebird and Elsewhere stared eye-to-eye for a moment. Nobody moved. Then, with a snarl, Elsewhere lunged toward Firebird. Firebird backpedaled. Thinking quickly, she unzipped the bag of pencils under her arm. She pulled out a fistful of very sharp pencils. Two male vampires leapt at her with inhuman grace. With a cry, she rammed a pencil into the chest of the first. He fell to the floor and evaporated into ashes as the 'sharp wooden stake' peirced his heart. Moving quickly, She leapt over the other male, and penciled 3 more vampires. A tall hooded vampire came toward her from behind. It grabbed her around the waist tightly. She squeaked, then ripped out one of her cross-shaped earrings and shoved it as far up his nose as she could. He evaporated.

Firebird sidestepped away from the pile of ashes, with a second to think as the vampires re-grouped. She pulled her small, consealed dagger out from her boot, then beheaded two of the vampires. One of the vampires kicked her side, and she winced as the breath was knocked out of her. Another one went at her neck with a knife, but missed and made a long, evil-looking scratch on her cheeck. Tears leaked out of Firebirds eyes, but she didn't stop. She penciled another group of vampires, and stabbed a couple more with pencils.
Three remained, Elsewhere one of them. Firebird was covered from head to toe with evil scratches, and her own blood.
Elsewhere snarled, bearing her fangs. She grabbed onto Firebird, opened her mouth wide, and bit down on Firebird's neck. Firebird screamed, tears coming to her eyes as they started to turn from soft brown to red. With her remaining strength, she kicked Elsewhere in the stomach, then hacked off her head. the two remaining vampires ran off. probably to get more, Firebird thought. Her head and heart pounded, and the world spun around her. Dizzy and disoriented, she managed to jump and clamber out of the nest. The ear that she had ripped an earring out of hurt. Hot blood dripped from her cheek down her neck, staining her torn and battered shirt. It hurt. But worst of all, she had been bitten. what if i turn into a vampire? What if I already AM a vampire? She thought, scared now. She kneeled on the cold cobblestone. She tried to stand, her knees wobbling beneath her. slowly, leaning against the wall, she stumbled down through the alley, across a road, through a yard, and to a familiar house. Gwendolynne's.

Gwendolynne heard her doorbell ring, sighed, and walked to her door. "I'm coming!" She called. She opened her door, then jolted when she saw Firebird standing at her doorway. Firebird looked deathly pale, and much skinnier than she was last Gwendolynne saw her. Her whole body was shaking, even though it wasn't cold out, and her hair looked greasy and unkempt. Blood dripped down her front and onto Gwendolynne's porch. "Firebird!?? What happened?????" Gwendolynne exclaimed. "Are you ill?" Firebird's shoulders shook with a sob.
"Firebird?" Gwendolynne said softly. She put a dainty hand under Firebird's chin, and lifted up her head to look her in the eyes, then gasped when she saw them rippling with a red light. she pulled out a sword and held it to Firebird's neck. "No, Wait!" Firebird said. "Please help me."
Gwendolynne's arm, holding the sword, shook slightly. "Firebird, or whatever part of Firebird there is left inside you, I'm sorry." Gwendolynne said stonily. "But, You were lost as soon as the fangs touched your skin..."
"NO!" Firebird cried, tears streaming from her red-brown eyes. "Please... Let me show you!" She snatched a holy bible off of Gwendolynne's bookshelf right next to the door, and held it to her chest. Any normal vampire would have evaporated into ashes. Firebird felt suddenly lightheaded from the contact with something holy, but not dead.
Gwendolynne lowered her sword. "What happened?" She asked, not letting go of her sword. "Come inside." She said, leading Firebird inside and closing the door behind her.

I don't know where else I would find wooden stakes, anyway. Maybe I just haven't found the 'wooden stakes' section of my local store yet...
