I now have added 6 sultans and 6 eggs from my hen Suzyq and her mate Larry Flynt. The Matt Jon eggs are doing great. 23 standards and 7 pure bantams going strong. Very active embryos. Keep up the good work y'all. I'm down to one showgirl butt the yolk is stuck to the side of the shell. Can she make it?

Day 18 on my 3 Silkie eggs! Only 3 out of 12 made it from PO handling them. Then 2 of them have floating air sacs... so I don't know. Last night my temps spiked too after I cleaned the hatching bator so I don't have high hopes for this one!

On a brighter note. Got home last night to the post office on the phone with my babysitter... my chicks from MPC were in!!!!! 5 Barred Rocks females... so they are meshing in with my 8 babies from this hatch!

Well I have good news and bad news - mostly bad I think.

I think I took on too much and even with two bators going - I'm really not into the staggered hatch thing. I won't do that again.

Of the three white call duck eggs - I hatched out two. One died before hatching, one if perfect and one has those darn curled toes. I think it may have more than curled toes because it's whole leg is back out behind it. I put the little boots on but I'm not holding out much hope for tha guy though.

The snowy call egg has stopped moving. Today is day 28 for it. I will check it one more time this afternoon and see if anythign is happening - otherwise I'll just open it up to take a look.

I have 3 more white calls in the bator due next week. I will be out of town and my mom will have to take over for me. I'm not very hopeful.

I also have about 12 runner eggs in there and about 12 giant blue cochin eggs. We'll see about those they seem t obe gong as plan and following the textbooks- hopefully I'll get a few of each to hatch.

So one perfect really cute white call duck so far - and that is all I asked for so I am absolutely satisfied!

Hey, what should my humidity for hatching chicks be during day 18-21?? I've read anywhere from 60-80% That's too vague! What do you guys do that works? I'm on day 17 today.

What a cute duck!! Oh, how I'd like to hatch one, maybe next time hatching!! My humidity is running around 70 % and so far things are good.

I'm on day 18 and full of questions!
Will bantam eggs hatch sooner than regular eggs?
Will eggs hatch sooner if the weather outside is extremely hot?
My eggs are under a broody, so I won't know if they pip or anything, right? I'm guessing we won't know what's going on until we see chicks peek out from under her. I usually take her off the nest once a day to eat and drink, but I don't think I'll do that from here on out. She has enough room in the crate to get off of it herself. I worry that if I get her up the humidity will change and mess up the membranes.
AUGH! I just want to know if they're going to hatch!

I love looking at all these beautiful babies! love the duck! I want one of those now!

To all you hatching experts...day 21 here on pheasant eggs. 8 of the 12 are resting with there small end down and the large end up on their own....they're like on an angle. 4 of them lay flat, I'm thinking maybe that means that there's chicks in 8 of them??????? Sorry, I just couldn't master candling and I'm completely in the dark on how they're all doing and so nervous!

what do you think? anyone else notice this near to hatch day?
