I have 2 adult Anconas, one hen and one drake, and 2 two month old Cayugas that all just vanished in the span of 4 hours? We don’t live in a heavily wooded area and there’s a lot of dogs in the neighborhood so a whole pack of coyotes seems unlikely; but I can’t figure out how else four whole ducks go missing without a trace. We have a couple security cameras but they weren’t pointed at the duck kennel and didn’t catch anything. Any other ideas what it could have been?

Did they vanish during the day or at night? Right now in a lot of areas foxing are hunting to feed their families. I believe a fox took all four of my ducks as all I could find were feathers.

They were last seen at 8pm and I got home around midnight; there’s not even a worrying amount of feathers outside. We do have a dog but she was inside for that time.

Were they out roaming at night? I think it may have been a fox. I didn't even notice the feathers when I was out looking for mine because it didn't look like much.
Yes, my dad usually puts them up at 7:30 and if I’m home I do it at 8:00, but he’s gone for the weekend and I was at work. My mom and sister were home and just didn’t think about it.
Foxes really take four whole ducks at once without a trace?

That's what happened to mine 2 weeks ago. When I woke up in the morning I couldn't find them anywhere. I normally lock them up at night but I was gone and no one at my house did it for me.

Well, I am sorry for your loss also and thank you for your insight. I just wish I could even find a body to know what happened. I hatched the older two myself and raised the Cayugas from day old ducklings. I know the risks with free ranging but to lose all four at once is devastating.

I understand. I also hatched and raised mine as babies. I feel stupid for not putting them up but what is done is done. I'm hoping to find some hatching eggs soon.

Sorry for your losses :hugs
