Can a chicken who normally lays pink (light brown) eggs ever lay a white egg?

a little more info...
our one hen of six who is laying normally lays pink/very light brown eggs. today there was a white egg in the nest. we want to figure out if a new hen is laying or if variation in shell colour goes that far.
our fingers are crossed that another one of the girls has decided to pay her way!
