I have a case of scaly leg mite in the chicken house- and have done about 3 treatments of melaleuca soak and vaseline rubbing. It's been about 2 weeks since their last rub down, and my 3 silkies are now sitting on eggs. I would like to vaseline their legs again so that the mites don't make them miserable, but I am wondering if this will harm the eggs? I was trying to go the 'au naturel' road, but I am now thinking that I would like to just get rid of the problem for good. I am going to the vet tomorrow to see if I can get a medication to add to the water- does anyone know what I should be asking for?
(I hope this is in the right section... I was going to post it in "hatching & incubating eggs"- but thought this might be more appropriate.
