Hi Connecticut is starting to get coooold! We'll be below freezing tonight.
Wen do you start putting Vaseline on combs? How much and how often?
I have mostly Cochins, but a couple with enough comb that I'm worried about it.

Thanks!

If your coop is well ventilated they should be fine down to zero. A lot depends on the size of the coop and number of chickens, as they will warm it to some extent.

I must confess I do not know about vaseline on combs....none of my chicken friends here in Michigan do this either. I assume it's for frostbite prevention?

How does it prevent it and does it work?

I put vaseline on a couple of my hens feet because of mites (which worked great by the way!)
