Has anybody got any vaulted skulls (lump like thing on top of head) or had any? Are they just the same as your average chickens, apart from the funky head? Give me any information on vaulted skulls!
I had two hatch today, here's one called randy;
My other one is yellow :D

He looks a little soggy cause he just hatched half an hour ago.

I see quite a few vaults in my Silkies. They are adorable, but are also a bit of a concern as well. Vaulted chicks are more susceptible to head injuries and neurological problems, since their skulls are open and expose their brain a little. My Silkies have their own coop, so theres less chance they'll get pecked or bullied. I also try to make sure there isn't anything in their coop they could injure themselves on. I, personally, prefer the chicks without the vaults. But, when I'm selling chicks, the vaulted ones are always the first to go. And I don't notice a difference in crest size between them
