Vegetarian Challenge!

Whoa I thought this was for trying to go from less healthy to more healthy for a week, not more healthy to less healthy??? Haha but I still prefer being a Vegetarian (not that I've ever been a meat eater...I've been a Vegetarian all my life!) because it's healthier (IMHO and based on studies) and less cruel.

This should be interesting!

Randy: Good luck!

redhen: watch some of the videos about KFC, etc. and I think you'd last way more than an hour...

You will find that many of us oppose CAFO and raise our own, hunt, or buy grassfed.

Yep. I agree that eating meat by raising your own livestock in good conditions and giving them a happy life and then killing them humanely as possible is OK. That way you know where your food comes from.

But for me I would never eat our hens! I love them too much as pets to eat them!

They're so spoiled! I only eat their eggs.

I don't think vegetarians are any healthier than those of us who eat meat.

Well yes they are...True, some Vegetarians do eat too much non-meat/unhealthy food, but the Vegetarians who have a healthy eating lifestyle will be healthier. Vegetarian "meat" (which is delicious!
droolin.gif
) is less fattening than real meat. So some Vegetarians may not eat meat, but they do eat junk food, and they can be unhealthy.

Sorry I don't agree that being a vegetarian means you're a healthy person. There are healthy and unhealthy people living both ways.

I do get very tired of the vegetarians trying to convert we meat eaters.....we don't do that to you. If you don't want to eat meat I could care less....let us eat how we choose to and quit preaching to us and trying to convert us.

As I said, it doesn't always mean that. But it can be a healthier eating lifestyle.

And I'm not trying to "convert" anyone...And meat eaters try to get me to eat meat all the time (well, my friends at school anyway

). You can eat meat if you want, I have nothing against you, and I don't eat meat if I don't want to, which I hope you have nothing against me.

Now, can people please get back to the OP's topic, the 1 week Vegetarian challenge? Before things get too off topic.....

I agree. Its far more costly, and far more land is used to eat only veges. I "consume" far less fossil fuels then any veg out there, and I will continue to do so, regardless of the push for the word to turn veg.
I know my food history, so no converting me to believe that veg is traditional. It is fringe.

redhen, you can cheer us contestants on.

Who else wants to take the vegie challenge?
Randy, good for you for trying!

Please keep it on topic and good luck everyone!

Okay, cuckoo. You can cheer us on!

In fact, I think I'm going to sign up.

Okay, I didn't make it. Bacon and eggs were calling my name this morning.
